Point tenderness in abdomen lower right side - worried

Hi all

I really hope I'm panicking about nothing but as per my recent post I had my CT scan for end of chemo on 10th July with my results on 17th. Since last weekend I have had tenderness on the right hand side of my abdomen low down, sort of appendix area (but I don't have one as was taken out in the big op along with everything else 5 years ago) it is very tender on a particular spot and doesn't go away, I can alwAys feel it. I have rung my CNS and she's going to try and Get me an appt in clinic soon as should get it checked. I only had a CT scan 2 weeks ago so surely it can't be causing me symptoms already or growing back?? Really worried and only just finished chemo on 4th July and haven't had this symptom the whole 6 months. I know there was a bit of residual disease left but it didn't cause me any symptoms.

Has anybody had this as a symptom, a particular point that was very tender which turned out to be cancerous?

Worrying myself stupid as if it's growing back already , no idea what they'd do???

Jo xx

Jo, I understand your distress. I have had a tenderness in the upper left quadrant of the abdomen. For a while, it was a real pain, but that has subsided. I went to my primary care physician, he felt around, even had an x-ray taken & there was nothing there. I still feel the tenderness & don't see the oncologist until Aug. 10....so I wait & wonder. It kind of hovers over the head all the time, doesn't it?

I hope things calm down for you. It is most likely nothing at all, but it's a worry.

I have had a similar pain. It started 6 weeks after I finished chemo. 6 months on the spot remains clear. We have put that pain down to side effects of my maintenance therapy. At first they said people can get such pains when chemo finishes even when there is no maintenance.

I don't think this will help. You just need to get them to investigate.

Hang in there. I have my fingers crossed for you

Hi Jo,

As odd as it sounds, I had the exact same problem at almost the exact same time to finishing chemo. I saw my GP who suspected appendicitis, but after a few days, it just went away. It was a very odd experience.

Fingers crossed for you xx

Hi Jo- I am 9 months out of chemo and developed a lower right side pain also. Kind of like bad menstrual pain. It continued for a couple of months. When I saw my ONC he could feel nothing out of the ordinary and my blood numbers were good. He sent me for a CT scan but nothing in that area showed up. he said it could be scar tissue or adhesion's which I understand can take a while to form. I had been quite constipated and looking back I think this was part of the problem. It is not as severe as it was but it still comes and goes.

i would get it checked out but try not to worry to much. Your CT was clear so might be something else.

Hugs, Carol

This is like bad period pains too constantly but I have a particular spot which when pushed is very painful I can push the exact spot. My ct scan showed a bit of residual disease left and fluid sac on liver but ca125 was 29 which was the good bit.

Thanks all of you..... it's good (in a nice way) to hear others have had pains which came to nothing , my CNS rang me this morning and I have an appt with my consultant on Monday which is good, I'm just soo anxious, it's just another thing to worry about and if it's cancer causing it I've only just finished chemo and had ct scan so how can that be low grade cancer and what on earth will happen next, I'm already waiting to see what they're going to do about fluid sac on my liver 😢 Just cannot stop thinking king about it all got that horrible butterfly nervous feeling constantly. Sorry to go on I know you're all going through it as well, I'm usually better at dealing with it but since my results and this horrible pain I've gone into melt down mode 🙄

Love to all

My tummy hurts all the time, mostly after eating. Remember that when they bundle yr intestines & all back it, there are often kinks. Have CA125 checked
