So far my faith has carried me through but its nice to be able to relate to others.

Hi Dede, great to hear you have recovered so quickly, its really nice to hear weeks instead of months! Did you have a full hyst.or partial? I wont know until I wake up whats gone and whats left! Have a feeling they will take it all as my consultant said the ct scan results were a bit like reading a novel,so much going on! Anyway very much looking forward to be able to move again and not feeling like an extra in Alien lol!! God bless,Gillyxx
Hi Gilly
I just want to send you a big cyberhug hug and hope that next week goes OK for you. Your doctors sound really switched on and this is bound to be enormously helpful.
I had a large borderline tumour removed in January 2010. I had been told that it was a cyst and only found out it was not 2 months later ! But I have got through it and so will you.
Take care and do please rest lots after the operation.
Charlie xxxx
Hi Charlie, thks for your post, sending cyberhug back to you!! Hope you are doing well and feeling great! My doctors do seem good and I cant wait for the op as Im normally very busy and active, its very frustrating not being able to do anything!!Did you have further surgery after they took the tumor out,Im wondering how everyone gets on as regards early menopause etc.Mind you at 46 it couldnt have been far away for me! Not too keen on the idea of whiskers sprouting!lol!God bless,Gillyxx
Hi Gilly
Had my surgery on Feb 3rd - a total de-bulk where everything is removed. I was in hospital for just 5 days and got slowly back on my feet over the next month, improving a little every day. Keep positive.
with hugs from Janbeegee
Hi Gilly
Loving your positive attitude, that is half the battle won. I had surgery in July and it didn't go too well at that time. I was told that the cancer was spread throughout my abdomen and they could not remove anything, i then had 6 cycles of chemo and had debulking surgery on January the 18th. This time everything went fantastically, they removed all visible signs of cancer and i finished two cycles of chemo on the 18th March. I feel fantastic and am almost back to doing everything i used to do before. I was only in hospital for 4 days after surgery and felt much better this time than in July.
Sending you lots of good wishes and hoping everything goes well for you, back in August last year i didn't think there was any hope but i've come out of this the other end with a huge smile on my face and a new out look on life. I wish you all the best
Hi Gilly!
Just want to say all the best for your op. I had a total hysterectomy 8 years ago. I'm still fine (fingers always crossed!). I echo all the comments made before me. Your positive slant on things will see you through. By the way, I haven't got whiskers but....I do get hot flushes. More info later on coping with menopause if you want, when the time comes! I also have a sense of life being wonderful after having come through ovarian cancer. It's a really special feeling. You will get there too. Treat yourself gently at first, follow all the advice from the nurse specialists and doctors about recovery, and when you're ready a bit of gentle swimming and walking helped me to get over the op. I did a half marathon walk last year for Ovacome and with my two walking friend, raised £500. Good Luck, let us all know how things are going with you.
Hugs too from Wendy x
Hi Gilly, I've just come back home after my op last saturday for probable ovarian cancer. I had a lump the size of a football removed, along with my omentum, some lymph nodes, part of my small intestine which was affected, both ovaries and my appendix. I had a hysterectomy 16 years ago, so that had already gone. I have to say I was dreading it, but it really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The staff were fantastic, and made sure my pain relief was adequate. I got back yesterday, and am taking things easy, it's surprising how tired I got even doing the simplest of things. I hope things go well with you, and you find that, like me, it's not as bad as you expect. Good luck, Sally xx
Gilly,
(just noticed thed te so you may have had your surgery by now so hope all went well for you).
LIke the other girls have said you will get thru this. I had a TAH in Oct 09 and they took away omemtum and lymph nodes too on right hand side. I was up walking the next day and home 4 days later. My diagnosis was unknown til they went in and it was discovered I have Stage 1 Borderline Tumour size of melon on right ovary. No symptoms or anything - only way I found out had PM bleeding and went to A&E where they found it.
You should find that nursing, surgical etc staff are usually fabulous dealing with us ladies - and you will find the other girls on the ward wil be fabulous support. Of course there is always someone on here willing to listen too.
Take care honey and let us know how you are, Sheila:)X
