I posted last week that I had been in hospital for treatment of severe shortness of breath. I feel better now than I did then, though I still easily get short of breath. One of the things that contributed to it was anaemia. I had an iron infusion before I was discharged, & went back yesterday for another, so when that kicks in it should help. But I had an oncology appointment on Wed to get the result of a scan I had while in hospital. Ascites had been suspected, but there was no evidence of it. There was, though, disease progression, & the genetic testing that was done recently didn't show up the hoped-for drug match. So I've ended up agreeing to be considered for the Acorn trial, a trial of a combination of a trial drug & Gemcitabine. I had previously been reluctant, as I didn't want to be immunocompromised during the coronavirus pandemic, & would have preferred any alternative to more chemo anyway. But my oncologist suggests this seems probably my best bet at the moment, the spread of the virus seems to be easing a bit at present, & I had my first vaccine jab 3 weeks ago to start giving me some protection. Still not really feeling happy with the plan, but I need a plan of some kind, so agreed to see the dr in charge of trials. Di

Disease progression & anaemia
Good luck with it Di16 and I hope you feel as good as I did after iron infusions... suddenly got my mojo back and started cleaning the house! Was like the Duracell bunny for about 24 hrs....
Good luck Di. I'm currently half way through about six months of taxol, dull but getting there!
Good luck - hope the trial works well for you!
Good luck with this Di and glad you are feeling more like yourself after some iron infusions. I think I am at the same point as you and I am having to seriously think about and discuss various limited options with my oncologists. I have been turned down for the Atari trial at the moment (it seems I am not quite progressed enough with the cancer) so I wish you well with your trial and wish you the best possible outcome you could hope for. Hi, It's good to hear about the iron, I have a pleural drain and have been very breathless and week, also progression but am having weekly chemo not been offered any trails. Good luck, I am finding the whole situation very scary paticualy with breathing, sounds like you are getting some good care.
