Hello everyone, I had a laparoscopy and biopsy last week and am waiting for the results but from what the surgeon said it looks like I've got ovarian or primary peritoneal cancer, probably 3C. I know there is a lot of treatment out there so I'm trying to stay positive but finding it difficult as I feel so lousy at the moment. I started to lose my appetite a couple of weeks ago and for the last week I've had horrible acid reflux and keep being sick at night. I have Omeprazole from my GP which help a bit with the acid but I'm still being sick. I had ascites drained last week as well which was a relief but I have thickening of the abdominal lining so my stomach still feels big and tight and I find it hard to walk any further than round the garden and I'm used to walking miles! In fact walking and eating are 2 of my best things and both are difficult right now. I have good support, though live on my own which in normal times I'm fine with but just feeling the need to reach out to others at the moment.

Hi. Sorry you are going through this at the moment, and hope you hear soon exactly what your treatment will be. I am surprised that you have been given a 3c grading pre op, but perhaps they were able to have a good look around.
I also live alone, and understand that sometimes you just want someone there to talk through treatment and symptoms, or just give you a hug and a cup of tea when you're feeling down. Friends aren't always there when you need them, and personally I don't want to inflict my worries and moans onto them too frequently!
This site is always here for you, and I have found it to be a constant in my life.
I was very sick indeed and couldn’t eat in the 3 weeks before my op. After my op the sickness had gone and I slowly went back to near normal eating. I see you are with a surgeon so hopefully he will sort you out quickly if needed.
Once your treatment plan is decided, either op first or chemo first, your symptoms should subside. You'll also feel better in yourself, once the plan is decided and you know what is happening. How long have you to wait before your next appointment?
Hi Amanda Sorry you find yourself here and going through what you are. Moan away by all means. I too am surprised they have given you a diagnosis but hold the thought I am stage 3 and still here in my 13th year despite 2 recurrences , currently 7 years NED albeit on a trial drug. Big hug, Kathy xx
Dear Amanda, I thought you were describing me 6 months ago then. I also live alone which is a scary prospect when you are sick even with support. I couldn't eat after my op. due to the pain relief but when I got home I slowly began to feel better day by day. You'll be fine it's not easy and we're all different. Hi Amanda. It’s a scary place to be but once you start treatment you’ll feel better (except for the side effects of the treatment). But taking walks throughout is good for you. The frontline treatment is pretty standard except for whether you have surgery first or in the middle of chemo. You’ll have lots of support here. Xx
H ihav3 been going through exactly the same has u have with exactly the same symptoms and diagnosed stage 3c ovarian cancer. My ascites was drained during biopsy but it came backwithin a,week or so. My main symptoms started in december even thou i had had them for a while ( acid relfux hiatus hernia hid them) thenxmas i was being sick and couldnt est and felt really uncomfortable in my stomach and back i was like an old woman and docs zent me for urgent ct scan as thoughtvitcwas my new groin hernia ( caused by ascites pressure) and then referred me to gyno..my ca125 bloods were 1237 and i had major op in february and then chemo started april and ive just had my final chemo my ca125 is now 7.4 and hopefully a good ct scan to follow. Try not to worry. The moment i recovered from my op i felt a million times better. I was same i had good support unit but who is best to talk to is the ladies being or currently going throu the same situation.good luck x
Hi. Just posted to say that I can empathise with what you and the ladies on here are saying. How well I remember the horrible bloating and acid reflux. I sometimes feel a little guilty about over burdening my family and friends with my concerns and who understands better than people who are going through the same things you are. I have not been a member for long but I have received some wonderful support and in return have been able to do my little bit in offering support as well. Thank you all for your replies. I have been diagnosed with stage 3 primary peritoneal cancer. Saw the oncologist on Tuesday, my treatment has been brought forward and I start chemo tomorrow. I hope and pray the chemo will work as the outlook is bleak if it doesn't. I'm just trying to stay positive but it isn't easy.
Hi Amanda. I know how you feel as my diagnosis is the same as yours. I had dreadful acid reflux which made me feel sick. I’ve finished chemo now but still on avastin . Feeling better but still tummy twinges and not much energy although I walk my dog every day. Like you I live on my own and some days are hard . There’s not a lot of information about peritoneal cancer and oncologist says it’s too widespread to operate. It would be good if you could get in touch. Best wishes
