progress xx
Oh Claire,
This is so difficult for you.
Has her ascites diminished or is she still suffering from this?
Does she have fluid in her chest cavity (a pleural effusion)?
This is what kept me from being able to eat.
I also had a regime of taking an omeprazole (25mg) an hour before trying to eat along with Cyclazine for nausea. I could take both of these after eating also....
When I could not take anything by mouth, these would have to come through the IV.
Rice crispiest was the first thing I could eat after very creamy mashed potatoes.
Glad to hear she is doing better, but I hope she will improve even more this week,
Best wishes,
Laura
hello laura, she is having anti sickness and the omprepazole... not sure if fluid on lungs as x ray results are not back and seeing her doc tomorrow!... just spoken to her now and shes managed to keep some toast and tea plus cereal down ! still on drip and will be staying in a few more days they said! what will happen if she has fluid in her chest?
Thank you for replying xxxxx
her pain in abdomen is much much better! shes due for chemo again on 18th ? they are planning her op for april... then 3 more chemos! x
They will keep her in until she is well hydrated and stable enough for her next Chemo.
All the fluid and ascites should drain away as the Chemo continues to destroy her cancer.
Mine suddenly went after my second Chemo infusion.
What a relief!
Hope this all works for her the way it did for me.
I was terribly worried that I wouldn’t get the operation, because I was very feeble in the beginning, so I was overjoyed after my third infusion and consultation to hear that my cancer was greatly shrunken and I was strong enough for the operation.
BTW: because it was winter holiday season, my op was delayed and I had a 4th infusion before the operation.
Also, I was not really very strong or lively, as so many other women were, because I had been so weak from the cancer and had blood clots in both lungs!
So, I could still have the op, even though I was basically bedridden before it.
Just so you know!
Hugs,
Laura
Hi Claire This is better news- hospitals can go into go slow mode at the weekend but it is likely that her consultant will review matters on Monday. I would press for answers but it seems that what they are doing is having some effect and she is still a week from decision time on the next chemo...so they will still be hopeful of getting her ready to have it xx
Hi Claire. Sounds like your mum is managing to eat a bit more. Phew it's quite a drive for you. I hope your mum is feeling a bit better today. I remember when mum had her chemo it did get rid of the ascites and also when she had her debulking surgery. Hopefully your mum will gain more strength whilst she's resting. It's good that she's on a drip for rehydration. I don't think my mum drinks nearly enough water which worries me. Sending positive vibes and will look forward to an update. Jane XX
Hello jane ! thank you for asking about my mum ! She’s much better today!! The hospital are just fantastic im glad she’s still on the drip as she dosent drink enough... Im so worried about her i’ve spent lots of today in tears still in shock I think ... Im worrying if she goes into remission or not if its going to come back i feel im going mad... I hope you are ok and your lovely mum ive just looked quickly and she’s doing well ... 💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓
Aww I hope your mum is feeling better today Claire x my mum starts her chemo next week. We are all worried and anxious as we know from your mum's experience, and lots of others on here, that it's often not plain sailing. Jane suggested keeping a diary of symptoms, which I'm going to help my mum with, so she can see if there's a pattern to when (and if) she's feeling poorly and then she can plan nice things on her good days. Take care and get well wishes to your mum, Vickie x
All the best to your mum too! she’s much better today thank you!! Its been a worry but we were told it can be trial and error! She’s meant to be coming home on wed so then there will be 10 days before next chemo to get a bit better again! hugs to you all xxxxxx
Hi Claire I'm glad your mum is feeling better today x fingers crossed for her getting home on Wed! Then you can get her strong for her next chemo. Big hugs back to you all xx
