Hello ladies..... just a update on mum’s results after second chemo... after going to her appt today we were told she was only an hour away from sepsis and had been in a very dangerous place!! Shocking!! so so glad alarm bells rang and we took her in!.... she’s much better now and 3rd chemo is booked for 25 march.... her ca125 is now down from 762 to 18 ... they are very pleased with her ! but she needs to gain weight they said ! Thank you for help and support through a rough and scary time xxxxx

The CA-125 result is amazing. Fantastic!

But how did she get Sepsis?

Did she have pneumonia?

As far as putting in weight, it is time for chips and ice cream! Brownies and cheesecake!

Hugs,

Laura

Phew Claire. How scary for you and your family. Sepsis really worries me. So hard to detect. Good news about the drop in the CA125. I hope your mum manages to gain some weight ready for her next chemo. I see Vickie's and your mum have been affected with red cheeks. Have they had steroid tablets? My mum had a red rash on her cheeks after the steroids. Sending hugs. Jane XXX

Hi Claire. Is your mum going to have an steroid injection ? I think my mum had the steroids in tablet form. I'm trying to think if the tablets were actually steroids. I think they were. It's so long since she finished her third line chemo! How many more chemos will your mum have before the surgery? Good that you can take your mum to her next chemo. Hopefully her appetite will improve a bit. Sounds like she's getting there. I'm glad you feel as though things are moving. Don't Google!! You'll scare yourself. You'll get sensible information from the ladies on here and I'm sure they would tell you not to resort to Dr Google!! Although I have to admit I did too but it can scare you more than necessary! I'm heading down to see mum for a week at the end of March - the first week of the Easter hols so looking forward to that. Well, sending huge virtual hugs and keep positive. Catch up soon. Jane XX

It's so worrying isn't it Claire. I hope your mum is able to find her appetite and eat more. I think you can get energy drinks - not Lucozade! But little things to sip on which would give your mum more strength. I can't remember what they are called but I'm sure I've heard some of the ladies mentioning them on here. The side effects are awful sometimes. My mum just wanted to be on her own when the side effect were at their worse. I hope your mum will feel OK again soon. Sending hugs. Jane XXXX

I developed neutropenic sepsis when my neutrophils dropped to 0.2 ! Luckily I was in hospital at the time after a bowel perforation. Treated quickly and effectively and managed to have another 5 carbo/taxol although I did have injections after each dose, filgastrim, I think? No delays to chemo at all. I am sure if they are worried against n, the oncologist will arranged for the injections to prevent any further problems.
