Dear All

It's certainly been a busy weekend on the forum with many reports of abuse made. We're really sorry that My Ovacome has been an upsetting place for so many of you in the last few days. This is to update you on the action taken and the reasons behind it.

- Posts with only religious content have been removed

We know that many of you find great solace and support from your religious/spiritual beliefs and communities. It is absolutely fine to mention this in discussion of your experience of ovarian cancer. However, we ask that posts of entirely religious content are not made as this is not the purpose of the My Ovacome forum. Additionally, several posts of entirely religious content in a short space of time, however kindly meant, looks like spamming behaviour and causes upset to forum members.

The volume of abuse reports we received about these posts tells us that forum members find this content unacceptable. Please respect your fellow forum members and do not post this type of content.

- Posts recommending certain therapies/lifestyle changes have been removed

This issue came up recently and as we previously explained, it is fine to post about your experience and what helped you. What we ask you to refrain from is recommending any particular approach and telling other forum members that it will help them or cure cancer. This cannot be known.

-Reacting to such posts

We know that if a post is upsetting that you may want to respond to the poster to tell them the impact they are having. When doing so, we ask that you remain polite and respectful. As well as the posts themselves, we also received several abuse reports about the way the posts were responded to. Please help keep My Ovacome a kind and supportive space. If a poster has infuriated you to the extent you cannot respond politely, please report the post and do not reply to them.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to make abuse reports or contact us through other means to report the activity on the forum. We want My Ovacome to remain a space that is informative and kind, and alerting us to upsetting content helps keep it a safe place. We hope the reason for deleting the posts is clear, but if you have any queries or concerns please don't hesitate to contact us.

Best wishes
