I bought a half price handbag that I have had my eye on for some time, it has 3 compartments with plenty of space for all the junk I seen to lug around! ☺ and several Christmas presents, well pleased as all done on line and free postage! ...........what bargains did you grab?
Hope you are having a relaxing Sunday, It is pouring down here but music is on, Lamb hotpot made and wine decanted and the best bit of all my son will be ringing this evening from Manhattan where he lives, he is such a good son, he phones every week (well nearly) and so for today life is good and worth fighting to stay in for as long as possible. How is your day?
Sending Virtual hugs to you all. Lyn xx

Hi Lyn, What a nice, "normal" post to read today. We can all use a little normal and a break from thinking, wondering, worrying and fretting....a reminder to us all to live our lives fully and to be in the moment. Thank you and enjoy this evening's conversation with your son. Happy Holidays.
I’ve got Christmas scented candles lit and am eating a mince pie, whilst my girls play Minecraft on the Xbox. Meanwhile hubby is buying all the deals he can find on ‘tinternet 🙄 Standard (almost festive) Sunday in the Yoshbosh household.
Love your post Lyn, i can smell the lamb hot pot and the decanted wine! And yes life is good. I too had my eye on a handbag, never had a designer one before so ive ordered a radley and trying not to feel guilty haha! My husband has had a rotten cold all week and I've got up swallowing razor blades so i was going to visit my nephew for his birthday but i don't want to give him that! Therefore revised plan, hot bath, cook something nice and wholesome, walk my beautiful jack Russell's, decant some red, get the fire on settle down and watch strictly. Thanks again for the post and i hope your Son is well and you enjoy your chat xxx
Ooh lamb hotpot....I could just eat that! Followed by one of Vicki's mince pies!
Its sunny here so I've just had a brisk walk round the woods (hate walking with no dog but hey ho...can't be helped and I need to move myself so this is the new life for now). I have to say the woods /fields look pretty in the low sun with some gloomy dark clouds rolling about. On the way back there is a farm stall - one of the 'leave your money in the jam jar' jobs - so I bought eggs and veggies and a bag of logs for the fire. That's me done for the day apart from cooking some dinner later and a bit of knitting. I'm trying to teach myself salsa off youtube so that's another possibility if I get bored! It's all excitement isn't it!
I haven’t bought anything over the Black Friday sales but did manage to pick up some decent red wine on offer yesterday for my dad’s Christmas present - I appear to have nearly done my shopping for the festivities which is good as I want to go away in our van one last time before it’s too cold - sadly today I’ve had to give in to a duvet day as been threatening with a migraine for days and woke up during night with it having exploded into full glory - cat keeping me company in bed and hoping other half going to hear some homemade soup up for lunch - enjoy the handbag - my vice is Fly boots and shoes so may look later x
Hope your migraine has gone. I have had them since a teenager, less so after natural & surgical menopause(!), but so debilitating when they come. Cats are great company 🐱 xoxo
Still lingering - I’ve had them since I was little but they got worse during pregnancy and then menopause - stress seems to set mine off and not much less stressful than having cancer x
I’m having a lovely day surrounded by my my fantastic family - 4 grandchildren, 3 children, 2 partners in law. We’ve been to the local botanical gardens, played on the slide and the swings, looked at the lantern festival and are now stuffing tea and cake!
I’m fond of a Radley handbag - especially in the sale!
Any preparation for Christmas has to wait until the bloke has his birthday on 10th, even later this year when he’s back from his trip!
Enjoy the Autumn weather everyone, even if it’s only through the window!
Hi Janet, how are you ? I would have been lost without the internet shopping this year , it’s so easy isn’t it .havent been able to manage John Lewis yet though, miss trying all those lovely perfumes!
Hello Janet - So sorry to hear you are suffering, hope you find some relief soon. Virtual hugs on the way. Lyn xx
I bought puff mince pies yesterday and ate one today. Friday went to visit my son and grandsons and stayed over rather than come home in the dark. Hubby is now on bp tablets. Do men listen ? NO, the doctor spoke to him about tablets and how he should stop smoking. He went to the chemist with the prescription expecting to get patches to stop smoking but came out with blood pressure meds. He had a bp monitor last week and his bp was up. So at the moment its like the blind leading the blind in our house, Have review tomorrow, thigh swollen thinking lymphodema so will be hoping for answers and relief
Noo just a feel haha, it seems it could be lymphodema but not taking chances, Have to have mri and bloods done in case its anything sinister. So for now looking forward to sexy socks from Santa
Thank you - the Lamb hotpot was delicious even if I do say so myself! My son went to the new York parade for thanks giving, he said it was brilliant but the -5 centigrade put a bit of a dampener on the festivities. Lyn xx
What a great post! So lovely to imagine that lamb hot pot ! I think we are all getting quite expert at online shopping now .. I bought some new baby gifts and a cashmere sweater from H&M ( not arrived yet ... hmmm I shall wait to see the quality ) so off I go to tai chi and feel blessed to have a ‘normal’ day I’m front of me today. Thank you for sharing! 🙏💕 x
Late to the table but loved this post! Thank you. I am in Manhattan (assume your son flew over to see you?) and have the luck of both my grown boys living here too. Had both visit--well, actually had one stay over for two nights as his roommates were all going home for Thanksgiving and although he lives a subway ride away I think he wanted to be with his Mom and Dad too! So it was a loving weekend and a great relaxing Sunday (we did go see the movie The Favourite which was entertaining) with leftover Turkey and stuffing.
Now is Cyber Monday--another online discounted day! oxox to all.
Hi - sorry a bit of a typo, My son works in Manhattan and lives in Brooklyn, he does come home regularly for visits, he telephones every Sunday.........Bless him. He was only ever going on secondment for a year, but he loves it so much he is still there nearly 3 years later.
Oh that sounds nice, Lyn. Bet it's a gorgeous handbag, yet suitable for holding the 'Urban Survival 101' kit one commonly carries around, expecting the unexpected and not willing to risk doing so without the right makeup...
I went a little crazy, admittedly. Bought an Echo ('Alexaaaa...!') for my sister (risking her guinea pigs accidentally triggering an online order when squeaking for food...), a saw (sic) for my dad, scarf for my mum, smartphone for my hubby (bye bye spider app) and various small bits and bobs for myself incl. a woolen baseball cap and - lo and behold - an exercise bike that was on offer. If madness overcomes me and I decide to make a valiant attempt at exercising, at least I won't torture my poor neuropathic feet too much, on the bike.
I didn’t buy any Black Friday goodies but have started gathering bits on Amazon. My granddaughter said save your money in case you need it nanny bless her. That’s how you know they’re not a teen yet lol
I like buying toys!
Hubby bought me a DS and some games so I’m slightly distracted
Number one son has put his order in so no change there in the last 30 years, like your son he is a real gem.
Have no idea what to get anyone else
If anyone can recommend some good Christmas crackers that’s good for kids and adults please say
Does anyone have new year plans? I’ve been gate crashed lol so cheating by getting a buffet delivery from Waitrose for 31st and Hubby will do a roast on the first just need everyone to step in
These posts have made me miss wine am going to ask if there’s any meds I can hold back so I can have some. I love red wine and champagne in different glasses lol
Does anyone have step family to buy for? I’ve three stepchildren all grown up with families of their own only one speaks to my hubby and I. Last year I spent ages and probably too much on step daughter her husband and three children and they didn’t even say thank you. Stuck for ideas this year 🤔
Hi Lily-Anne - We decided many years ago to only buy for the children in the family up until they were 18. This year we only have to buy for 3 nieces so they are getting Amazon vouchers, then come the January sale they will get more for the money. As for buying for stepchildren that don't speak to you! or even bother to say thank you! forget it!! send them a Christmas card if it makes you feel better (I personally wouldn't bother) but leave it at that. I love making my own Crackers you can buy them ready made and you just pop a present inside and put the recipients name on the outside. We are escaping the rat race this year and will be on holiday for the new year first time ever...…..cant wait! Hope you get that wine and champagne! Lyn xx
Lyn thanks for your uplifting comments. Our meal was toad in the hole, definitly not one of best I’ve ever done but the wine and watching strickly made up for it.
