Bowel obstructions

Hi ladies just wanted to know if any of you have had more than one bowel obstruction cause by your tumour? And how many of you now have a colostomy or an ileostomy?

I have recently had a short bowel ileostomy January 6th, this happened because of collapsed bowel at the Ileocecal junction due to 2nd reoccurrence, and I was half way through treatment with Carboplatin when it happened. Now I’m in hospital again with another obstruction, very painful! Tumour markers are rising and I need some advice from others who might have had similar experiences. Thanks everyone Bx

I have an iliostomy as a result of my debulking surgery. I have never been able to find out why I was given it or how much of my colon was removed. It was supposed to be reversible but noone will even discuss this as I recurred straight after first line chemo. I haven't had a bowel obstruction yet though have been worried once or twice.

I had a bowel perforation after 2nd chemo and now have a stoma. The cancer was resting on my bowel and restricting it. I had a bowel resection as part of my debulking surgery and they are now looking to reverse this. I do sometimes get constipated and can usually manage this with diet and lots of fluids. If not the sodium duccosate comes out.

Dear Barbara, My tumors caused my colon to lose it's ability to inject fluid into the stool, resulting in painful blockages. My doctor prescribed Miralax, an osmotic laxative. This works beautifully; because of my condition I have to take it every day. I take it in a homemade cafe mocha (we call this Crappuccinos💩). The caffeine helps stimulate the colon as well. Follow it up with 8 oz water to make sure you have plenty of liquid to put into the stool. Also, walking makes a big difference in keeping bowel obstruction away.

Best of luck to you, and warm thoughts and prayers from me!
