Got my scan results today following second line treatment. I had a complete response so am very pleased.
The scan showed thickening on the bowel. I’ve got to have one of those cameras up my backside now. Nice!!!!
I’m scared now that it might be a bowel blockage.
Anyone had thickening on their bowel? Consultant said it’s probsbly due to the surgery or the chemo but it’s onky just showed up on this scan. None previously.
Feeling worried. Xxxxx

Really pleased for you that you’ve had such a good response to chemo. Can’t help re bowel thickening but have my fingers crossed for you that it isn’t anything serious. I’m afraid many of us can’t help but worry even though it doesn’t help! Love Jo 🌹🌸🌼🌺🌻
Suzanne, I understand but the fact that you’re aware of it gives you a head start as you’ll be on the lookout for symptoms and I bet you’ll get some excellent advice on here from ladies with first hand experience. Don’t forget it’s easy for me to say this but you’re the one going through it. Sending a virtual, hug. Love Jo xxx
Hey Suzanne that is fab news. Good to have this after all you have been through. I have had thickening in several places on the bowel and they treat it as part of the mass they want to reduce. But, and this is a big but, it could be all kinds of different things and you could have something totally different. For me they just include it when looking at response.
A camera might reveal more and should help work out what is what. I hope you can enjoy the good response news and have a good weekend.
I asked him if it could be my cancer gone to the bowel. He said no as my tumour markers are ok. He said if and a big if it was cancer then it would be colon cancer. He thinks it could be inflammation or scar tissue.
Excellent results on your response to chemo, I’m really thrilled for you. I can’t help with the bowel issues but hope it’s nothing serious. Big congratulatory hugs for the good news and big encouraging hugs for the bowel issues. ❤️Xx Jane
HI Suzanne, We all worry about any new development, thinking the worst that is what this beast dose to you, try not to worry, Good news about the chemo response.
Hi Suzanne, as you know I had a blockage in the bowel last November caused by the scar tissue. I was told it can happen at any time. It's not pleasant but nothing compared to what we've been through already.
Try not to worry too much. Like us all, we worry about something that might never happen. I was advised to eat less fibre but also foods that help you go to the loo. Keep bowels open and avoid constipation. I'm finding this quite difficult but others have no problem in that area.
FABULOSSO - I'm really chuffed for you. More of the same please. At least if you have a bit of a blockage the stuff you have to take before the camera job will shift it...... I know that's cruel but I actually like the feeling of being empty for a while, even if sitting on the loo forever isn't so wonderful. Just don't sneeze missy!!! xxxxx
Don't be worried as being worried doesn't change the result. It just gives you stress and sleepless nights when you could be happy and enjoying life. Oh get me - Mrs Wise, who doesn't listen to her own advice.....
Yeah, I'm ok. It's a battle between the flu bug and the cancer bug at the moment and the flu bug is in the lead by a mile. Although, dot dot dot, I got up today and it's not a great feeling as my kitchen was in a right old state. Hubby is at the end of week two of his flu but has been caring for me. Unfortunately, chef superman doesn't do cleaning up very well. I'm dreading anyone coming to the house unless they are wearing a bio hazard suit and need to go to Specsavers..... My humour (and temper) is back so all is not lost.
You take good care of yourself xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx have a bit of fun and get into mischief xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx all will be well xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Kryssy x
GREAT news Suzanne. You are one treatment ahead of me and I live through you somewhat vicariously --very happy to hear about the complete response. Bowel will be figured out soon enough and my hope is its nothing that won't be sorted out on its own. (meaning, no treatment needed) or that it is something to address but not the C word!
Suzanne I am so pleased to hear your news good response to treatment, at dx ct scan showed thickening of the transverse bowel but surgeon said it was not so bad when I had debulking surgery.
Just had another ct scan for recurrence and radiographer picked it up again, I hope it’s good news after colonoscopy.
Suzanne I am just waiting on pet scan, ct scan has shown recurrence but onc said irregularities of the liver shown up on scan, also lymph nodes. Biopsy done on vaginal vault came back positive. So hopefully if there is any cancer on the bowel it will light up with the pet scan
When I had a PET. Scan awhile ago it showed lymph nodes had lit up but now my CA125 marker is low, my consultant said my lymph nodes are ok now. I only had a CT scan for the last scan. PET. Scans are very good.
I hope you don’t have cancer on your bowel and wishing you all the best xxxx
Wow that’s great news Suzanne, so pleased for you! Try not to worry about the bowel it could well be scarring, I know it’s not easy not to worry but hopefully you will get the test soon and get reassurance. Madeline. Xxx
That is wonderful news about your great results, I’m so happy for you.
Just to say I’m in recurrence now and one of the things that came up on my CT scan was thickening of the bowel loops. I thought this was just part of the whole problem and would be treated by the chemo . In fact I landed up in hospital a week ago with sickness possibly caused by the bowel trouble, and then started on Carbo/Caelyx last Friday. I do get a bit of pain and a lot of gurgling.. As your tumour markers are good at the moment it is probably different for you. The colonoscopy would of course show up any blockage, but if you are going to the loo ok I shouldn’t worry, but just make sure you stay well hydrated with a good balanced diet with plenty of vegetables and don’t get constipated. Probiotics might be helpful too. Good luck with the colonoscopy. love Sophia x
Really pleased you've had such a good result from your chemo Suzanne. Not sure abou the bowel thickening, hope it's nothing and you continue to stay well for a very long time. Take care, Jo xxx
