After having 6 rounds of carbo taxol finishing 4 weeks ago I am absolutely wiped out and can only walk about 100 yds. I am having a blood transfusion on Saturday as blood tests show low readings. Has anyone else had to have one? If so how quickly did you feel the benefits?

I had a blood transfusion during chemo due to low counts and anaemia...the very next day I felt turbo charged! It was great and did me a whole lot of good...hope yours is equally refreshing!! x
Hi Fay, yes i had a transfusion on one occasion. I had found that i was becoming breathless and needing to sit down just walking upstairs.
I had expected to come skipping out of the hospital, but in fact it took a couple of days to feel the benefit. I know some people get beneficial results straight away.
I only needed this once, and you will definitely feel a lot better very soon.
Hi Fay, I felt the benefits the next day,it was very noticeable. I had a couple of units which took about 4 hours, so take a book or something to help pass the time. I hope you will soon have more energy.
I had a few during my first treatment, before surgery and also during chemo and felt better after a couple of hours. I had a lot more energy very quickly, though it took me a while to get over the fatigue of chemo.
Hi Fay, I had to have 2 transfusions, I felt better overnight and was totally amazed at the transformation. I hope you get the same response from yours. ❤️Xx Jane
Thanks for all the replies. Now looking forward to tomorrow. Considering how I feel right now it is hard to believe a difference will be seen so soon but you guys have given me hope. 😀
I have had three blood transfusions over time and I'm so glad I did!! I felt better the same day! It was amazing. No more shortness of breath and dizziness. You are going to feel so much better afterwards. It is such a worthwhile procedure!! Kim xx
I had a blood transfusion before I started chemo. I was so breathless and couldn't walk very far. I was pushed in a wheelchair onto the ward but was able to walk off the ward feeling much better. I had another one during my debunking surgery and my blood level s have bern fine ever since ( touch wood). You will be fine
Have had 2 blood transfusions during 2nd and 3rd line chemo. Actually started to feel better while still having it. Walked out of the unit feeling much better. MORAG
Hi there,I had 2 units at the end of 2nd line chemo,I was really struggling with fatigue and breathlessness beforehand but the next morning felt a massive improvement. Still feeling good now 2 months on xxx
Hi Fay, I had blood transfusion during chemo and after and I was bouncing about the same day. Sometimes I feel like I'd like another one to get me going. Good Luck.
Hi Fay, well done getting through the chemo course. I had a blood transfusion before my 2nd abdominal surgery (end March this year) and felt as though I could run a marathon there and then. Just about to start my first course of chemo and have asked about blood transfusion if count is low. Good to hear from all the ladies here that they all felt the benefit. Hope you're bouncing back soon and enjoying your social life. Plan a skiing holiday too
Yes I had one was the same could not walk down the garden. I felt better within days, but I'd been poorly for about 2 months with low counts so took a while to get fitness back
