Feeling a bit down in the dumps as just been told it's back in my liver. Had not been expecting that at all, Oncologist assures me that she can make it go dormant again (her words) but would love some advice please, it hasn't gone anywhere else so I suppose that's something?
My fighting knickers are around my ankles just now Claire xxxxxx

So sorry to read that you've had a bombshell piece of news- a lot to take in even with an optimistic oncologist.
I can't offer any advice about your liver but I'm sure you will get some replies.
I just wanted to say that our fighting knickers sometimes need new elastic or even to be thrown away and new ones brought. Mine are new too and I went for a bigger size so I cut the label out to keep their superpowers inside.
You need time to process so get out a piece of paper and when youre ready jot down your thoughts and questions.
Wise advice as always! Still processing but have so much faith in my team which helps loads. Hope you are doing ok, will buy knickers immediately. How do you do the flowers on the reply, so pretty! xxxx
Using my iPad which has a smiley face icon on the keyboard and when you hit that it gives lots of icons to choose instead of text such as faces, flowers, etc
Sorry to hear that. I've had a couple of patches on my liver for some time now. They shrink with treatment but never quite go away. I hope there's some effective chemo for you out there x
Please pull them up! π³We all get days like these, but have no choice but to swap them for big girls fight pants. π¬The good news it is contained and if your onc says she can make it go dormant then she has faith in you and you have to absorb that and go with the plan.
I'm sure you will have re grouped by the time you get this, you can do it,cos you can!ππ
So sorry that you have had this unexpected news this disease is so cruel . Try and stay strong and focus on the fact that your oncologist has said she can treat it .
Sending love and best wishes for your future treatment
Good morning Claire - I was exactly the same - the beast returned 8 months post chemo on my liver. That was 2 years ago and yes - I've 3 months out of finishing 3rd line treatment but still here and enjoying life.
It's always a shock to hear this beast is marching again but believe me - you will yank those pants up and find the strength to do this again - we're an incredible strong band of ladies and you'll be with us banging the drum to beat this! !!
Thank you Maz, just had to tell my kids which was horrid, going to think of some nice stuff to do after next round in the ring! In pain but liquid morphine helping xxx
Hear you on that one Claire! ! The main thing I hate about this disease is having to tell your loved ones it's back - I so remember the awful time I had telling my then 20 year old daughter I was having to have chemo again - Justin Timberlakes Cry me a River had nothing on the pair of us! !
I felt a total failure and that I'd let everyone down - totally bloody irrational but the guilt I went through at having to put her and my poor hubby through it again was immense; tbh not sure it ever truly leaves us!
Please check in to let us know how you're doing xxxx
So sorry you've had this shock Claire, this b****r of an illness is so sneaky and cruel. Hope you've got the knickers firmly back in place now!! your oncologist sounds really positive so that's half the battle. I've got some patches on surface of liver and other spots here and there, it is so strange to think they are there yet I look relatively normal on healthy on the outside! Currently having avastin and oral chemo tablets and awaiting next scan in a couple of weeks to see if it's stable. My ca125 has gone down to 19 so I just hope that it is still reliable!! It is so so hard telling the children whatever age they are, but they are more resilient than we think. Do you know what treatment you will be having?
My ovarian cancer returned in my liver also. Here in the U.S. There is a procedure called y90, where they insert radioactive beads directly into the tumors. I had it, and my cancer has already shrunk. Another treatment is liver ablation, where they "microwave" the tumor. I'm not through fighting, as I'm sure you're not. I would discuss these procedures with your oncologist. Good luck, and keep us abreast of what you find out. Sally
