Hi all, question... I'm three weeks post operation for debulking surgery. From your experiences how was the pain after? I'm walking around and moving around fine but have pelvic pain and abdomen pain all of a sudden this week. Just like sharp different pains. Hard to explain but I'm sure you ladies know....

Remember, I was diagnosed after having my c section so I was pregnant the whole time. So I don't know what symptoms were from the pregnancy or the disease.

The DRs believe they got all the disease out and I'm NED at this point and I will start chemo soon.

So my question is did you ladies have abnormal pains after the surgery still 3 weeks later? Is it organs settling in? I'm just getting a little paranoid because of the different pains.

Thanks

I had random pains still get the odd twinge ... I just think it was organs settling down after all the prodding about but if your worried mention them to cns I did and they prodded me about and said everything's ok which reassured me.

Thank you... I'm def going to mention it but my follow up appointment is not until next week. I could always call but figured to check out what all of your experiences were.

Totally agree but always think what if I gave someone advice from my experience then it turned out to be something that needed medical attention I would then feel terrible 😳

I'm 4 weeks post op. I'm not taking any painkillers but feel very delicate inside with many strange feelings and backache.

Yes lots of random pains, pangs and twinges for some time afterwards. Don't forget it's a MAJOR surgery especially if you were cut. This op seems to be downgraded by others purely as we women have it !!! As Shelley has said if you are worried etc then please speak with your nurse or GP.

It was hard enough recovering let alone after a pregnancy so I applaud you xx

Thank you. Yes I was cut from under my breasts down to past my c section scar. I agree that it is down played. Thanks again

I has lots of different twinges and pains. One day they would be like a typical tummy ache, then the scar would play up etc. I would say this went on for at least three months. I have to say that none of the pains were unbearable and I would have spoken to a doctor if they were. You have been through two lots of tummy trauma so a lot of settling down to be done. I Hope you had a great Christmas with your baby xxxx

I got lots of different pains post op and not just from the incision. All our organs are 'messed' around with because they check them all while they're in there and they do take a while to settle back down, it is a major surgery. If you're at all worried your CSN won't mind you ringing them and peace of mind is very important. Hope you and baby are both OK ❤xx Jane

Hi Ange. I had my op 3 weeks ago as well and I still get a couple of places regularly giving me pains. Sometimes it's like remains of trapped wind - which I really suffered from - and sometimes it hurts when i straighten up. It feels like stuff is settling down, as our op sisters have said, and when I asked my surgeon post op about it she said this was normal. I'm not you tho so if you feel worried you could speak to one of the ovacome nurses or one of those treating you.... just to put your mind at rest. I hope you are finding time to enjoy your baby and wish you a speedy recovery from your op. Good luck with chemo - what are you having ?

Hi! Wishing you a continued speedy recovery!! I spoke to them about the gas pains which are normal. Those went away and now it's these other strange pains. Nothing unmanageable but I will ask my DR next week.

I start carbo/ Taxol for 3 cycles. I had 3 cycles before my surgery and my body responded great to the chemo in removing almost all the tumors. Thanks for the reply and take it easy! Happy New Year!

Hi Ange, I had awful pains a times after the op and they were to do with bowel movements and wind. Laxitives helped me but the pain was considerable. We can only advise on our own experience so I'd definitely recommend a chat with your nurse. Remember youre in a different medical situation to us as you're post cesaerian too. Best ask the hospital.

After 3 weeks I was off painkillers and doing small walks round block. If you feel pain has gone worse generally I would go back to your Doctor as at this stage it is easy to pull something and better to be safe than sorry. When do you see surgeon for post operation follow up. I agree bowel pain can be horrendous could it be that if so make sure you take something to keep moving. Sx

I already saw the DR once and go back again next week for follow up. I called the nurse and she said everything I explained seems to be normal. It's just that it's pelvic pain and other pains different from gas pains so I was not sure. Thank you for your response. I have been taking walks and was thinking maybe I was doing too much.

I was just on paracetamol for 5 days. The scar was tender and I had what I term as discomfort rather than pain. So different for everyone. I was cut down from waist to pubes. Only you really know your body so as others have said if you do not feel right talk to a HCP.

I would imagine its your insides settling down, you must take it easy and no heaving lifting, I do hope you have some help around the house At this stage post op you shouldnt be lifting anything heavier than a cuppa. Best of luck with your little one you didnt say if it was a boy or girl but enjoy him or her as much as you can, Remember in all you had two surgeries so bound to be tender.
