Post op scan.

I've just received a letter for an appointment for a scan on Sunday. Had surgery on 20th October

It says the department is emergency radiology/ct scanning.

Is this routine? Just wondering why it says emergency. Am I being paranoid? X

The emergency wording means you get a priority appointment within 10 days however if you have questions then I suggest ringing your clinical nurse to check.

Hope it's all well

Thank you Clare. I'm sure it's all ok and routine. Xx

Hi Suzanne, it could be a number of things, your onc going on hols or the availability of a radiologist at the weekend. We dont have that luxury here in Ireland. It mght be there was a query on scans done recently and they are redoing them to be sure. I dont think its anything to worry about, Ring and see if you can get a reason if you want. I wish you the best

I suspect this is nothing to do with you being an emergency, but rather to do with the economic use of facilities. At the weekend that team, in my experience- having been an emergency a couple of times, can twiddle their thumbs, so they're probably booking in non-urgent appointments to keep them busy.

My hospital does non cancer patients in the cancer facilities, because that's where the new kit is. xx

Hi -it probably is because it is being done on a Sunday to ease waiting times.

The staff could be based in emergency dept .

I would not let it worry you .

Take care and all the best xxx

Just had a ct scan at Frimley Park hospital at 8 o'clock at night, radiologist said they are full in the day with patients off the wards.

Me too. I guess they want to see what it looks like now minus a few bits and bobs. Or perhaps they've lost a scalpel. Xx
