nearly 1 week post op
Hi, glad to hear you are behaving after yr op. I found myself feeling much better after 2 weeks and out and about (driving ) in 6 weeks. I know it’s a drag but the more you rest the quicker u will heal x
I felt better after about 2 weeks, especially after I didn’t have to wear the compression socks. I started having longer walks in week 3. I was on antibiotics for the first week and still felt a bit sick week 2. By week 3 I felt less tired, more comfortable walking and able to eat normally. By week 6 I wanted to drive and swim but was advised to wait until 8 weeks after my op. Hang on in there.
I had a 10 hour op for stage 4b and was 75 years old. For 6 weeks, I got up every day but did not have the energy to get dressed. Now, 15 months on am leading normal life. The answer is, it varies, but always improves! Best wishes for speedy return to normal, Emma x
I was told it takes 6-12 months to recover from the ultra radical surgery I had The op was October and I was feeling fine by Christmas, not experiencing pain or sickness long before that, so much quicker to get back to normal after 9 hour surgery than I was expecting. I did rest for the first couple of weeks (and was in hospital for two prior to that) but you do start to build up your stamina quite rapidly, I found.
It takes several weeks. You'll probably start to feel better after 2-3 weeks but it will still take a while to get back to normal. At least six weeks, longer if you are older or had pre existing health problems. Where do you think the word 'patient' comes from?!
I've had three surgeries in my life, and I found each time that it took several months for me to feel completely back to normal. The pain diminished quickly and was mostly gone after a few weeks, but I didn't have my normal level of energy for a long time. My personal theory is that your body's energy goes into healing instead of being available for your daily activities. Get plenty of rest and try not to demand too much of yourself. Short walks helped me feel better. Good luck! --Lani
Wont be long allow yourself to heal insideband out. You'll soon feel the better for it and the advise is good just get strong and try and be patient . You'll soon be up and about then small steps too recovery watch t.v get reading you'll soon be recovered be kind too yourself and behave if you can . Take care & l wish you a speedy recovery. Love & hugs SheilaFxxx
HeyI found the first 3 weeks pretty tough. No energy...tearful..fed up and very delicate.
By week 4 going into week 5 things just started to change. Energy levels improved, mobility and more importantly my mental health.
I didnt realise how ill I was until I had the op and started recovering. All those OC symptoms have now subsided, I have lost weight and have so much energy. Be kind to yourself and rest. Remember you have had major surgery and your body needs to recover.
I have had my first chemo and that did knock me off my feet for a week but still feeling so much better
Take care x
Wishing you a speedy recovery !
