Octopus trial

Hi ladies. I've been offered to go on phase II Octopus trial at the Christie. Wondering if anyone knew anything about it? Unfortunately it's randomised so won't know if I'm having the placebo and that freaks me out a bit! Xxxxx

Hi chrissy88 sorry I cant be of help on this at all, have you any idea of the drugs they will use? It is upsetting not to know whether or which but hopefully the hospital will provide counselling in advance for their patients, all the best I really hope you get the right combo

One of my friends has been offered this hopefully will start end Aug/beginning Sept. At the Christie. The only thing I can say is that I have been on trials and I am on one at he moment, at the Christie. It sounds a good trial the weekly taxol is a good mixture. Hopefully you may get the drug . You will be carefully monitored either on the placebo or the drug, which always gives peace of mind, (well to me) anyway.

Good luck.

Regards Barbara.

The Christie is outstanding , and I would put trust in whatever is suggested . Tell them you are freaked out and let them assuage your fears ?

Very best wishes x

Hi Chrissy, I'm not on this trial but I have been on 2 trials at the Christie and the treatment is very good.

It's 5 star compared to the Chemo suite! Are you with prof Jayson? I've been going there for 12 years now with a lot of treatment and just finished weekly taxol yesterday.

I hope it goes really well for you and may ask about it myself but need a break now before more treatment and a little holiday I hope

Love Francesca x

Many thanks Francesca for your comments. Yes I'm usually under prof jayson but this trial is under Dr Clamp. Unfortunately I don't get to turn right at the top of the stairs so cattle class chemo ward I'm afraid!!

How was weekly taxol?

That's a shame. Weekly taxol wasn't too bad, I've had it before but this time i did get worse neuropathy and the dose had to be lowered but on the whole I've been able to get on with life pretty much as usual. I look forward to hearing how you get on with the Octopus trial
