Trial: Hi all. I am about to start the Sierra... - My Ovacome
Trial
Hi Morag. Not heard of that trial. What's the drug called - or is it called Sierra?
I think it’s probably the same trial as Gina had just started, SRA-737.
Yes that is it. Couldn't remember. Do you know how Gina is doing on it?
I’ve signed the pre-trial consent forms, but haven’t heard anything yet. I’m currently on weekly taxol, so signing up now is a speculative ‘if/when I need it in the future.’ Good luck with it.
Hello Morag, I just signed the paperwork for this trial today so hoping to start it as soon as possible. Hope it goes well for you and do keep in touch. Jane x
Hi wondered how you were getting on with the sierra trial. I started about 3 weeks ago. It is taking quite a lot out of me. Morag
Hello Morag, I think I’m a wk ahead of you so I haven’t had any treatment this week which has been such a relief. Im sorry to hear it’s taking so much out of you. I too have found it draining. I ended up in A&E in the second week with a high temperature. Although I stayed in for 3 days they couldn’t identify what the problem was.
In general, my platelets and bloods have been low and they put me on magnesium and iron to help but I remain lacklustre. I wish they would do a CA125 reading so I could at least see if it’s working. I won’t know until my scan on 11th March. I really have no sense of how effective or not it is.
Hopefully you will have a week without treatment to recharge your batteries.
Best of luck, Jane x
Hi. I had to miss a week of treatment and have the dose lowered as I felt absolutely exhausted for nearly a week. Also had the runs for a few days. Sounds like you have had sometroublestoo. Not sure what my ca 125 is either. I k ow I am a bit anaemic. On magnesium too.Hope thingsimprovefor us both. Morag.
Hello Morag,
I too was anaemic and magnesium deficient, and I had another stint in hospital with high temperature. Again, they couldn’t pin point the cause but they delayed treatment a week as I was on holiday in Italy last week and they didn’t want to risk a high temperature whilst I was there. My CA125 has shot up to over 1000 but they are continuing with treatment as scan shows borderline progression which means it is 20% or less.
Hope things are working out better for you.

Hi I am hospital just now. Had treatmemt on Wedneday felt terrible by Friday. Temp was high and had raised infectionmarkers. On iv antibiotics. Not sure if I will get treatment on Wednesday. Consultant said only if markers come down. Glad you managed a holiday. Morag
Sorry to hear you’re in hospital. Sounds like the high temperature could be a side effect of this treatment if we’re both getting it. My nurse today mentioned someone else on the same regime had experienced it too. Hope you get out soon and are comfortable in the meantime.
