Hi folks, started my chemo on Tuesday, feeling OK at the moment. We have our six year old grandson Josh here he slept over last night. We live in a small town near Skipton Yorkshire, and every year at this time, our town puts up a big marquee on the square. It has a mini beach inside with sand for the children to play in, and table and chairs where you can sit and watch and have a cuppa. Also on a Thursday we have donkey 's brought from Blackpool for the children to have rides on for free wr just put donations in. So taking Josh up to the beach, he is looking forward to the donkey rides. Its a great little town to live in. Hope you all have a nice day. Love Julie xxx

Hi Julie - that sounds like a a wonderful plan. My grandparents lived in Yorkshire and I loved having these kinds of adventures with them in Weston-super-mare :) Have a fantastic time! Hope the sun shines for you all xx

Sounds wonderful. You are so lucky living in such a beautiful part of the country, and to have the beach brought to you - what could be better. Enjoy the time with your grandson. X

Hi Julie. Enjoy your few steroid days and do t overdo it too much. Sez me ! The one who has been going around like a Duracell bunny since Mon when I had my first one for recurrence . I actually had a lovely walk on the beach on Tue and took buses and taxis to the city on Wed for a funeral yesterday. Where you are sounds idyllic and must be wonderful to entertain your grandson. The book says that from day 6 or 7 onward the immune system starts to go down and if you get side effects they will happen then. Not everyone does I presume but I did first time round 5 years ago.,. Just enjoy. Be extra careful and don't overdo it. I carry hand sanitizer in my bag and keep well away from sneezing people ! Keep us posted.

Thankyou molly, I feel a bit lazy as my sister came down this morning and did my ironing for me. My hands are sore and red at the moment due to the chemo I was on. I will be having chemo once a week now for eighteen week, so not sure about my immune system, will it be low all the time. I will ask about that on Tuesday when I next go for chemo. And yes I will keep a hand sanitizer in my bag. 😊 xxx

That's a tough one Juliette as mine has always been every 3 weeks . I just had a look at my chemo booklet but it doesn't cover weekly treatments. I guess they should have told you when yo expect

Sorry Juliette. Reply went too soon. I wanted to say that your team should have told when to expect reaction if any. For 3 weekly I think it's from around day 6 or 7 after treatment. It's so useful to know as they say forewarned is forearmed ! I remember mouth ulcers scared the hell out of me last time until I realised they are gone by the third week. In any case best of luck and I hope it goes well for you.

Julie

I have got gremlins who keep deleting my replies all evening. Just to say that I always got my ulcer too in the exact same place. It worried me in the beginning as I said but I looked at its third week disappearance as a good sign. Good luck on Tuesday and I hope you get all the answers you wish for.

Thanks molly, yes my ulcer as gone now. You made me smile about the gremlins, I am sending messages from my phone and to tell you the truth I am not right sure what I am doing. I think some of mine have dissappeared, 😁. Hope you OK and things are working out for you. Sending big hugs x
