hearing: Hi ladies, has anyone experienced some... - My Ovacome
hearing
Yes I have just think I'm getting old lol..it's more in my right ear some days are better than others xx
It's funny you should say that!! I have only had one session of Carbo/Taxol plus Avastin and I seem to be mishearing people and my daughter is complaining that I have the TV up too loud. Maybe I'm just distracted or have my turban pulled down too far over my ears!! But thanks for mentioning it, I'll monitor it now and see if it actually is a problem.

I am the same. I finished Chemo last September and have been having Avastin since. My hearing has got worse and it seems to be certain pitches. A few months ago I went for a hearing test and ended up with two hearing aids. I use them mainly for watching television but they do the job no more sub titles. I should really wear them more but they do take a bit of getting used to and are not very attractive. I have read somewhere about chemo and hearing loss. Just something else for us to put up with

If anything I'm finding my hearing is more sensitive to noise! Had 6 chemo with Avastin and now Avastin on its own for 12 cycles.. have already had 3 - Will monitor as see how it goes x
Hi I seem to recall that when I was on Avastin my hearing was affected but this returned to 'normal' once Id finished. xx
thanks for all your comments, my age probably contributes a bit, but I think I will hold fire on the hearing aids till I've finished and see if it gets any batter, hugs to all xxx
I've been on carbo/taxol/cisplatin. I cannot hear the door opening, food cooking, the television or radio and comprehend what they're saying. It's dangerous. I never realized how much we rely on the sounds of cooking. No more multi tasking in the kitchen, I have to stand and watch the stove top now. Absolutely getting hearing aids. Had a baseline reading before chemo started. Showed mild age related hearing loss, but I could still hear!!! I might wait about three weeks after chemo completed to see if it improves. If not, I'm happy to get those hearing aids. Also my ears are sooooooo sensitive. The audiologist said that happens when you lose hearing your ears are doing this thing called "recruiting" and actually trying to search for the lost sound, so what we're left with is seriously sensitive sounds we CAN hear and a whole bunch of sounds that we can no longer hear.
Yes I do, have to have the telli up louder plus started putting sub titles on too. ☺ could be an age thing but I blame the chemo also I have chemo brain too.😕xx
I am going through my 7th line of cymo and my hearing has got worse (could be advanced years) went to get my new hearing aids yesterday brilliant. Best wishes to all you great ladies x
I was fitted with hearing aid three years ago ,just before my diagnosis a couple months ago I discovered after treatment I notice it was difficult to hear. The television, had my ears checked there was wax build up in the ear of my hearing aid but still could not hear properly ,after it was clear went back to audiologist and my ears had deteriatated it may be cause through chemo plus age ,now I have to wear two hearing aids. when I had my wig my glasses and my aid it took me longer to get ready for bed now with another aid it wiil take even longer.
I've finished chemo but am on Avastin. I have raging tinnitus at the moment. Hope it's not permanent!
