I'm 63 tears old, had tital hysterectomy last year in Aug. 31st and was diagnosed with ppc stage 3C. I underwent 18 weeks of chemotherapy. My highest CA 125 before surgery was 278, after 4 chemos went down to 7.3 and when the last one last June was 7.0. I finished the chemo on Feb. 9th. My oncologists did not prescribe any maintenance meds to avoid recurrence claiming there is none for this type of cancer or for ovarian cancer. I drink tea every made from boiling organic turmeric, ginger, galangal and a small amount of black pepper. I have ct scan and lab test every 3 months.

Thanks everyone for the likes and good words! We all need to be strong, our God sent His word and we'll be healed!

My hair is 5 months in this picture taken last month. And yes, I lost appetite when I was having chemo, and now I am eating good. I rebuke cancer, god willing, there'll be no recurrence. Yes to healthy life! We are all beautiful. We are like tulips, they decayed and seemed dead, to come back to life and bloom beautifully.

God is good, all the time! All the time, God is good!

I just think, they might help and, anyway, they do no harm and can be enjoyable. Xxx

I get them from Sprouts. If you can't find organic roots, Costco has organic turmeric powder.

Hi Belenrr,

Thanks for sharing.. You look fabulous and nothing like 63 years old.

What is 'galangal'? Do you use root ginger?

Thanks

There's also some evidence that galangal may offer cancer-fighting benefits. In a preliminary study published in Molecular Medicine Reports in 2013, for instance, tests on human breast cancer cells demonstrated that galangal extract may help inhibit the growth and spread of breast cancer, in part by inducing apoptosis (a type of programmed cell death essential for stopping the proliferation of cancer cells).

Yes, I use the roots of turmetic, ginget and galangal. You can google to see the images of them. I peel them, then pound them and boil them for 15 minutes.

2 pieces of 2 inch turmeric , 1 1/2 inch of ginger, 1/12 inch of galangal, 1/4 tsp of black pepper 4 cups of water. Boling this on med heat for 15 minutes will make a 2 cup of tea. You can squeeze half lemon if you prefet. I read that sugar should be avoided.

You can research more online. These are all based on my personal use. I am not a medical doctor (yes, I have my ph d) so please ask your doctor for medical guidance.

Debs!

I did a Thai cooking course once, Galangal is also called Asian Ginger and looks very similar to regular ginger. You get it in Asian supermarkets and some other supermarkets! I had also read about the evidence that Belenrr mentioned below! We have no Asian supermarket near by though so bog standard ginger is my only option! Must get back to making Ginger tea have gotten a bit lazy with the broken limb!!

Debs, if you have Vostco there in your area, they sell organic powdered turmeric in a bottle.

Hi Belenrr

We don't have a Costco for miles, but I can order online. The pepper makes it effective doesn't it?

That's what I also read. I use it sparingly because the 3 roots are already spicy enough. I didn't drink them while having chemo because the oncologist said the tea might affect the efficacy of treatment. Drinking it for 3?months right after chemo was over gave me the lowest CA 125 at 7.0. I don't know if was because the chemo is still working in my system or because of the tea. I'll post the results after my next ct scan and lab test in Sept.

Hi Bele

I am a stage 3c PPC person too diagnosed in May 2011. Chemo only but stayed NED until this year . Swollen lymph nodes and a creeping upwards CA125 means after a CT scan result last week I will start chemo next week.

I am staying hopeful for another long remission. Look at you ! You look absolutely fabulous and the picture of health. I have been using tumeric for over a year so I am interested in your recipe for tea. Not so sure I will be allowed as they were quite adamant last time about herbs etc. However I think the ingredients you mention are used in cooking so I can't see they would be any harm.

Stay well and stay smiling. You are certainly doing something right. Long may it continue.

Hello everyone!

On me, the cancer came back 20 months after my last chemo. Ct scan results showed 10 new growth in multiple area around the abdomen and the good thing is none is in any organ. I'm not a candidate for any surgery because the growths are in multiple area. I will have chemotherapy again, Carboplatin and Doxil. Hopefully, my body can take the treatment very well.

irgsn one

Hi Belenrr, I was reading your post and the reply's and did not realize the original one was a year old till I read this one,

I'm sorry to hear your cancer has returned, as you said it's good that it's not in in any organs and that your team has a treatment plain in place.

Just to let you know I have just finished 7 rounds of Cardoplatin and Caelyx, Doxil is also called Caelyx with very good results and also managed with minium side effect.

If you go to the top of this site in the right hand side and type in Carboplatin and Caelyxin in the Search my Overcome box you will find some good advice from the ladies also just type in Caelyx,

I all so had Caelyx as a single chemo 3rd line and funny found that a harder treatment then the Cardoplatin and Caelyx together.

I hope all goes well take care ..Lorraine xx
