Hi Lorent, well just to wish you the best of luck with your appointment. I am not sure what the swelling indicates, I would ask your gynae oncologist or your gp. There is an Ovacome nurse you can also ring to discuss your symptoms. The swelling may not be associated with this and it is best to ask the medical experts and get their opinion.
Hi Suzuki, thank you for your reply , looking forward to getting to Dublin to see this oncologist, don't know what I should ask, totally lost ! So stressed out as my husband just been admitted to Cavan hospital with mini stroke, just to add to the stress of it all, feel like screaming 😥
Oh gosh you have a lot on your plate at the moment. If your joints are swollen on your arms and legs, it could be a form of rheumatoid arthritis but your gp should really advise your on this. All I can say is that I have a friend who attended both St James and Tallaght for treatment and her oncologist is absolutely great. My friend has CLL but is doing okay. Well your appointment is near enough so hopefully you will have some answers on Tuesday. I hope your husband is recovering, he will probably have to take meds on a long term basis. Is there a Cancer Support Group near you such as Arc House or Cancer Support West? It might be a good idea to go along and chat to a trained counsellor, it is a hard thing to do but in the long term it is beneficial and you may have access to one in a support group. You cant bear this all on your own, it is just too much, sending you a hug
Thanks for your lovely reply, just spoken with doctors regarding my husband, it is a mild stroke only affecting his speech, they think it was brought on by stress,as he is finding my situation very hard to accept, as with the loss of my mom in 2014, think he feels I might be the same, regarding the swelling it seems to come and go as today I feel "normal" if that's the word to use 😊
Well I am looking forward to meeting with the oncologist Tuesday ,which is in the Mater, and will let you know what he is planning, Still staying as positive as possible !!
Wishing you the best for Tuesday and I do believe you will be in the best hands yourself up in the Mater. Your husband will recover in time, it is unfortunate that he got ill now but sometimes life can be hard. Best wishes
I didn't have arm/leg swelling just a bloated belly from ascites and related breathlessness, so can't comment from experience but...
Wish you the best with the appointment. Bring all your questions with you, ideally on a notepad or something. It's so easy to forget to ask something when your head is in lala land anyways, worrying about what the recent diagnosis means and trying to digest all the medical terms (at least mine was).
Hysterectomy is a big operation but I bet you'll feel better afterwards.
Hang in there. You're with a gyn oncologist which is the first and most important thing for the surgery i.e. someone who knows their way around having a much better chance to remove all parts that don't belong. Just take it one step at a time for now.
