Topetecan and hair loss

Hello. This is likely to be my next chemo regime. Has anyone used a cold cap and kept their hair ok?

Hi i used a cold cap when on second line carbo taxol and kept all my hair although one little patch near hair line did thin a bit. It's worth the 10 min discomfort at start. Good luck with the treatment just make sure you dress warm and have a,snuggle blanket to keep warm.

Hello. Did you get your hair cut short? That is what I have done whilst on weekly Taxol and I'm keeping my hair with the cold cap. The next chemo will be Topetecan so I'm trying to find out if the cold cap will work with that drug too. Lovis x

Hi it was fairly short. Think the mist important thing is lots of hair conditioner combed through before putting cap on to get a good contact. Hope everything goes well. I have just finished third line had scan an waiting results. Not sure what's worse chemo or waiting.

Hi Lovis

I have just completed my 2nd cycle of Taxol/Carbo and used the cold cap both times. I know that you will be on a different drug but just want to say that don't be put off by the cold cap as it is bearable - 2nd time better than the first - just make sure you get the right size - it needs to fit snug all over.

Yes worked brilliantly for me , my hair just thinned out a bit and thatched on dose dense weekly taxol and carb every 3 weeks. I'm not vain but life so much easier with hair. It's only v cold for first few mins then u are numb , I used aveda haire thickening product unde it to protect my scalp from ice , luck I my second line doesn't need cap ( gem carb) so far so good.
