Caylex/carbo and hair loss

Hi there I was just wondering if anyone lost there hair on carbo/Caylex combination. I’ve only had one cycle but my hair is falling out. They did say I would keep my hair this time. Thanks in advance everyone

Hi, I finished Carboplatin and caelyx in September, I didn't,t loose the hair on my head but did loose some body hair. I do understand some women's hair does thin so I hope that is what is happening to you. Chris

Hi Leanne, I've had Caelyx twice the first time was 3rd line treatment and now 5th line, I've now had 6 treatments of Carbo/Caelyx, I've not lost any hair, I did lose it when I had Taxol.

Your hair might only thin a bit.

This combination of Carbo/ Caelyx has proven to be very good for me hope the same goes for you.

Hi, I have had Caelyx twice now. The first round of six treatments and now I am up to my 4 th cycle on this round. Both times my hair thinned a bit. The first time was of concern as it seem to start thinning at about cycle two and quite a lot came out for a few weeks but it did stop. This time it has only just started to thin abit and it is not really too much. I guess we all react differently. Hopefully you won’t lose your hair. They told me I wouldn’t lose my hair with the Gem/Carboplatin combination but I became very thin and lost most of my hair except for a sparse covering. I had to cut my hair very short. So don’t always believe them. Ask your oncology nurse during your next infusion as they seem to have more knowledge or willingness to tell you what side effects you will have. Good luck Sharon

Hi Leianne. I had carbo/caelyx for 2nd line. My onc said I'd lose about 10% of my hair. I have fine hair, so thought it would be noticeable but it really wasn't. I could just tell the difference (by the end of the treatments) but no one else could tell I'd lost any hair.

As Lorraine (above) says, it's an effective combo. Caelyx is not without annoying side effects but it's worth it. Good luck. Pauline - Australia.

I have just had my 3rd caelyx and my hair is thinning, but I still have plenty, I am hoping, I will keep most of it. I lost it all first round of taxol / carboplatin., hope you manage to keep most of yours! xxx Jeanette

My hair did thin but didn't fall out dramatically. You should be able to hide it.

I had carbo /Cayleyx for 6 rounds my hair thinned but not noticeable Not long finished 6cycles of Caylex and no hair loss But will be loosing it this time round as am back on pacclytaxil weekly Hopefully your hair is just thinning good luck from Australia xoxo 😘

Hi. I've had six rounds of carbo/caelyx this year,and noticed quite a bit of hair falling out after the first one, which got me in a bit of a flap, but it stopped after that. Hope the same happens for you.

I was told it didn't usually happen...instead it thinned... but it did occasionally. Really sorry if you are one of the unlucky ones.....love Chris xx

When I had carbo only my onc said it would thin my hair. Howver the nurses said it wouldn't and persuaded me to not use the cold cap. The onc was right .

I used cold cap for my 8 cycles of carbo and Paclitaxel but lost almost all my hair after the 6th cycle because there was an emergency and no frozen caps were available. I am now on Carboplatin and Caelyx and have been advised to use cold cap for both as they cause thinning. I have had three cycles at monthly intervals so far and no evidence of hair loss to date. I think it is worth asking about the cold cap for your remaining cycles. Best wishes.
