Well it may be no harm to have this test repeated if you have other symptoms at the moment, best to discuss it with your gp
Thank you. Yes I will speak to my GP

Despite the news coverage today which looks great towards the early detection of OC, there is still some doubt with regards to the results.
I have stage 4 with lung mets, however my CA125 is always low. When I queried this with my oncologist, he said that not all OC cells produce the proteins contained in the CA 125. Confusing isn't it?
However each case may be different, so I would get retested, may give you some reassurance.
Much love JackieO xx
Are you pre-menopausal? Your time of the month can increase the CA125. If you are going to ask for annual tests, it might be worth noting the time of your cycle and always doing them then. There are articles on the web about the effect of your cycle on CA125
I would repeat test this year if I were you, but given your additional investigations last year I wouldn't be too alarmed.
The news about the blood test has shown that it is an individual's trend, rather than the absolute number at a given point that is the most relevent way of making an early stage diagnosis. They have found that using an algorithm and applying this over a period of time makes the test more accurate.
Your doctors will have presumably considered other possible causes of the level- it can be higher for other reasons such as inflammation, menstruation, other health issues. Of course if you have additional side effects that have changed, you should discuss this with your GP.
It will be while before the full impact of this diagnostic tool is released and then hopefully a screening program is implemented. As you will see from another post, we are many of us hopeful that this will be sooner rather than later so as to benefit women in the future. Sx
