As we say yet another goodbye,

Another courageous friend to die.

We mourn the loss of a dear friend,

A true campaigner right to the end.

To raise awareness was her fight,

Gave no thought to her own plight.

She lit up Belfast town hall in teal,

Suffice to say she was a lady of steel.

And although having ovarian cancer,

Symptom awareness she felt was the answer.

Determined to save others from this,

Una Cruddon will be sorely missed.

So relentless was Una's campaign,

This is her legacy that will remain.

We will think of her often how can we not ?

This wonderful lady who gave such a lot.

Even fundraising for the hospice,

Her talented voice was not to dismiss.

A voice of an angel it's true to say,

Now what we feel is utter dismay.

No end to her talent one of a kind,

Pride of Britain award springs to mind.

We are aware she stood out in a crowd,

To have known her makes us feel very proud.

It was with sadness that I read your post about Una's death. I read about her in a newspaper (here in Southern Ireland) and told others of the manner in which she raised the profile and awareness of OC. It definitely shows that the 'power of one' can achieve wonders.

To her family and friends I send condolences and will think of Una when visiting my church tomorrow.

A truly remarkable woman of great love who has impacted many lives and will continue to do so. Amongst the many tributes, Una's words from one of the many interviews she gave, “It’s not how long you've got, it’s what you do with your time that really matters,” believes Una. “I've achieved so much more in the past four years than I would've done if cancer hadn't come into my life.”

“None of us have the promise of tomorrow,” she reminds us. “I’m here now, so I may as well make the most of it!”

Beautiful Gwyn. Una will definitely be missed. She was an inspiration to me when I met her in the clinic in Belfast and we became friends from that day. Her funeral is on Monday and I will be attending. Thank you for writing this tribute to her. Ann xo
