I have just started on weekly Taxol. I reacted to carboplatin any caelyx failed to help me. How effective has weekly Taxol been for others?

Hi Maxine

I've just finished weekly taxol, which was my fifth line chemo. I tolerated it well and it worked well for me, better than last chemo regime of carboplatin and gemcitabine. It brought my CA 125 down from 1200 to 20 and shrink tumours a lot. Of course we are all different but I would use it again. Good luck with yours and big hug

Hi there,

Carbo/caelyx didn't do enough for me either so switched to weekly taxol. Have just had number five and since a few days after number one have been feeling soooo much better. Tolerating it well, no hair loss so far with scalp cooling and numbers are coming down. Haven't had scan yet but so far so good.

Wishing you well,

Lynne xxxx

Hi,

I am expecting to start weekly taxol soon, so interested in your post & replies. Carboplatin did little for me, so hope taxol works better.

Reactions to carbo, my ca125 now 2,500 from 2,000 in February. Oncologist spoke about weekly taxol or trials as next stage after resting from this,so will be particularly interested to see how you all fare . In the mix is small blood clots in both lungs so self injecting blood thinner for next 6 months...ouch!!! Anyone else had this out of interest? Good luck to everyone too xx

Hi, just catching up on threads....

Everyone reacts differently, with Sandra she had weekly taxol as her 4th line treatment. She found it difficult and only managed 12 of the 18 weeks. She was chemo fatigued so she was put on chemo rest for 2 mths. Her disease had shrunk by 30% and on reflection its a shame she couldnt manage the full course. I have a friend who was on weekly taxol as part of a trial, after 18 weeks they extended her treatment by a further 18 weeks. By about week 23 her hair started growing back which to me looked like the chemo had stopped working but they continued. By week 32 the decision was to stop as scans showed no improvement. She then went onto caelyx within 2 weeks so no break from treatment and that seems to have done the trick as she is now on 3 monthly checkups.

Not what you're looking for?
