I can't do your coffee mornings. I can still support everyone who write's on this site. I have nothing like your support group where I live. I feel isolated with my ovarian cancer journey. My friends are great but no one really knows till they are confronted with it. My heart goes out to everyone who goes through this. I am half way through my chemo course at the moment. I am doing caelyx and carboplatin. My hair has started thinning but I still have a pretty good coverage. It seems this second go round is harder somehow. Good luck everyone.

I can reach out from Australia.
Hi Airfemale, I'm really glad you've joined us as we can reach out even though we are opposite sides of the world. I live in the UK in Wales and I'm glad of these support circles. It's a lonely journey if you can't meet up with others in a similar situation. I guess the distances in Aus may be such that getting a support group together wouldn't be feasible. Where do you live in Australia?
I finished my second line of chemo at the end of February. I found it tough just getting through the second line and this will be your winter as mine was. How many more treatments have you to go? I hope you can arrange some nice treats to cheer you up along the way.

Hello AIrfemale.
It is tough enough going this this horrible disease & treatment without the back-up & support from others in the same situation. I'm in Southern Ireland and our group, Ovacare, provides great support & means of meeting others going through OC. They organise coffee mornings in my City, and also Patient Information Days - with great support from the medical profession here.
If you have a Liaison Nurse at your hospital, ask her if she is aware of others going through treatment for OC, and without giving you their info details, she/he may be willing to pass on your name & contact details. Sometimes just meeting for coffee and chat is good.
I've just started 3rd line treatment,( carboplatin, taxol & avastin) and it is tougher this time with pains, nausea etc,,,, but managing despite this with lots of pain killers & rest.
best wishes winging their way to across many time zones. Daisies
Just want to add my support, it is hard journey. If you have a gynae liason nurse or an Australian Cancer Society, it might be good to get in touch/ As the other ladies have said, we are here at the end of a post. So dont ever feel alone. My cousin who lives in US Boston, didnt realise there was an American Cancer Society until I found out here. Her daughter had bone cancer but she is in remission at the moment and she didnt know where to go for support. I agree with what you say, I find too that my friends dont understand that I could be tired, or fed up. Sometimes its like we are wearing masks to hide our feelings isnt it? I have one good friend who lives a distance away but we talk on the phone. She has Leukeamia so we understand each other and our feelings and our side effects. We are friends for years since we were about ten or eleven. Sometimes our family tend to think we are fine if we are up and about. It is a hard journey/ Here we also have a Cancer Support House that we can visit and talk with trained volunteers and get light massage etc. Any how please feel free to post whenever you need to and we will answer you, wishing you the best and hope this regime doesnt tire you too much. I got hair thinning from Gemzar and Avasti, I have coverage but my hair is short. It is okay when I wash it but next day it could be like wire wool. I would suggest you use a baby shampoo that would be gentle on your hair. Sending you hugs by airmail

Hi Cathy46, I am glad to hear from another aussie. Yes it is confronting to go through a reoccurrence. I am on my third. My oncologist has me on Tamoxifen at this stage. Which he has explained to me, helps sometimes in ovarian cancer. Where are you in Australia? Sharon
