Thank you Kittie, I hope I am doing the right thing but will know better the next time apparently vhi wont pay for scan unless I am an inpatient. So they consider chemo as inpatient. Where is the logic. Then to make matters worse, have been put on rota for work Frid and Sat, cant be helped staff shortages due to sickness and hols. So am taking it easy today and tomorrow. If I am sick I cant work and that is it really. Hope you are keeping well yourself and enjoying the nice weather. Met up with a cousin today who doesnt know I have this thing and it was refreshing for it not to come into conversation. Had a catch up on our relatives and their life stories of long ago it was different and the cousin was male. Now I am not really behaving myself am I having lunch with other men haha

Suzuki. Will be thinking of you on Thursday and do agree that it is dreadful that VHI won't pay for CT scan. I am fortunate that I can take the preparation & scan injection when I am having my usual Avastin so am covered for the scan. We must talk about this at the next coffee morning and see if any pressure can be put on health insurance companys. In relation to work.... please oh please, take it easy and do not stress about work. Not sure who you are working for/with, but if they cannot be more understanding about the stress of scans & waiting for result... it doesn't sound as if they have any great planning or cover arrangements for illness etc. Don't mind me, it is just a little rant of mine. Glad you had a good lunch and catch up---- it is uplifting sometimes just to chat about everything else even if some of the chat is gossip. Take care and keep us posted on scan result. Daisies.

Thank you Daisies, I appreciate your comments re scan and avastin and if you can do it so can I haha. Well about work, my gp advised to give it a try and if it is too stressful, its not worth it and will be willing to sign me out sick again. So I do have his goodwill to fall back on. Work has two out sick full time and hols going on in the background hence the shortage but that is not my problem. In fairness they have been good to me while I was out so cant complain there. But I do know I have to mind me too. Yes it was good to catch up with my cousin who I hadnt seen since we were small children and comparing what our grandparents and great grand parents had to contend with, ie small houses and big families. So we revisited the past. I came away greatly refreshed.

If possible do not work, GP said to me I owe it myself to put myself and my health first. your GP is not saying this out of goodwill its what is best for YOU. Focus on looking after yourself and doing what's right for you, the working world can cope without us.

Maybe I could just sort them at work with that lovely hairdo you have

Hi Suzuki.

Will be thinking of you tomorrow. Best of luck. X

Thank you Missfitz, I got on ok, ahem ahem, can I say how bold I was? Well drank the prep for ct and my tummy decided I had to eliminate it asap. Off to the loo, and was in a panic because I have seen in the past, if you get unwell, under health and safety they send you to CUH. So I remembered I had immodium in my bag and took them. Problem solved except got another glass to drink before the scan itself and I was in the horrors in case I had an accident. Scan done went and had tea and crackers as told to do by oncology nurse before Avastin and all good now. This was the first time tummy said no to this drink but I have googled it now and apparently it can happen. Anway got home about two, went for a rest and doing okay tg. Hope you are getting through the chemo, and doing ok. I wont have result for a few weeks as oncologist on a well earned holiday. I think he told gynae liason nurse to check report and get on to me if needs be hopefully she wont have to. Hope you are getting a chance to enjoy the nice weather in between treatments.

oh you bold thing you - not telling the staff about 'eliminating' the prep. \in the overall scale of things you did the right thing. IGlad all went well - isn't it amazing that each of us reacts so differently to every single thing - chemo drugs, prep drugs & drinks, Avastin etc. But it is over now and while waiting for results can be stressful, I firmly believe that if anything shows the staff know immediately... so relax and enjoy the weekend and the dreaded ' floods' that are forecast.

Daisies

ps. any update on the work situation?

in reply to daisies

Well Daisies as there is no med unit in the South Inf now, if you get sick, you are sent to CUH emergency so there was no choice really except to take the immodium. I am fine since I did my stint at work today but took it easy. I will see how it goes with work and if I feel the pressure coming on, I will have to down tools. Have a nice weekend hope we get some sunshine as today is very warm and muggy

Hi. It is amazing that there is no med unit at SI particularly when so many people do get sick from the various drugs. But I know you like it over there and the staff there as in the various oncology units around the country are fantastic.

Glad work went OK for you, but do take it easy also.

The muggy weather has got to me and spent most of today in bed (with a gyppy tummy - you probably know those side effects too) so just catching up on e-mails and then going back to bed.

Oh the joys of immodium!!!!

I am beginning to think gyppy tum is part of the course too with Avastin. The heat doesnt hel either, make sure you sip water or flat seven up to stay hydrated in this weather. I came hope after work and took it easy for the afto and evenin. Hope you feel better tomorrow. I was told at the beginning if you get sick while on chemo or during you are sent to cuh and didnt want to do that. They even sent someones chemo buddy in ambo one day. The mostly do ortho surgery there now and gynae ward is gone

Thank goodness the scan is over and done with. You know all the tricks! Doing ok here. On cycle 5 of 6 - so on the home stretch now. Hope you can put the appointment to the back of your mind for the next few weeks and enjoy the good weather yourself!

Thanks will try and chill in the meantime. I have been fine since so it was obviously the prep. Crikey time flies doesnt it, you are almost there and I would say you arent sorry especially in this weather, think the heat is killing
