Hi Ladies, I went for my 3 month check up today and bloods etc are fine, the consultant is very pleased with the way things are going Thank God. I would just like to put a question out there I am having quite a lot of pain in both legs and when I mentioned it to the doctor after examining me he said its from the Taxol and to stay on meds that my GP prescribed its only when I got home that it came to me that I finished chemo 11 months ago can you have long term effects from Taxol?

Hi Kittie

So pleased for you what a good check up.I am sure that so of the other ladies may help with their experience of Taxol.

Regards Barbara.

Hi Kittie, that is very good news and if the doc is happy with you that is all that matters. I suffered from a lot of aches and pain after my carbo/taxol and spent a fortune on a chiropractor. It did help a little. I did keep up walking through my chemo in the cold nights and that prob didnt help. The aches do go away, my favourite remedy for my feet was an epsom salts foot bath. You can also put this in a bath. It does help.

Hi.. While some of us who had Taxol did have those dreaded leg pains, they usually disappear. But, I keep saying to others - we all react differently to the drugs and recover at a different pace. Resting does help - with your feet elevated. Also, when the pain eased, I found that walking did help as it seemed to loosen the muscles and tendons. Contact your local cancer support group and they may be able to arrange some massage therapy to help. My oncologist did tell me that for some the side effects can last for up to 12 months. But try and focus on the good news at your 3 month review. Keep us posted as I love to hear the good news.

My sister is about to start and the cancer nurse stress that neuropathic pain associates with it can be v v slow to go but that for most they do eventually. Hth? Congrats on good report. Great to hear positive stories.
