I'm new to this group. My mom suffered an L1 fracture 5 years ago, was diagnosed with osteoporosis and put on Reclast injections for 4 years . Her levels were good so they stopped it. After a year, T12 fracture (kyphoplasty surgery scheduled next week) Now they are suggesting 1 of 3 options -- Forteo, Prolia, or Evenity. She's on heart medications for flutters and also has had 3 different cancers. Just last week, surgery to remove tumors in her bladder. I've been advised to research and make the best decision for which option. Any advise before we meet with the doctor again in 2 weeks? Everything I have read - all are risky.

here for my mom

I was only on Prolia for one shot, plus have not had fractures. I am on fosamax now. Plus, pilates, walking, weight bearing exercise. I think my case is much different than your Mom’s. I was nervous on prolia, so chose to stop after the one shot.
evenity has many black box warnings. Has heart warnings. I would recommend you have your Mom speak to a specialist for osteoporosis. Once I started having spinal fractures it was non stop until I found excellent doctor. Has caused mobility problems. Honestly did not know osteoporosis could be so severe. Found a doctor that is an endocrinologist. Now spinal fractures stopped so that’s the good news how it disabled me especially walking is permanent. Doc told me osteoporosis is one of the most undiagnosed and undertreated conditions.
So you found an endocrinologist regarding osteoporosis? We see a Rheumatologist who monitors her bone density levels and provides the infusions. She does not have an endocrinologist but if I need to add this specialist to her list, I most definitely will. Thank you for your response.
