hi I have a choking and balking cough as soon as I finish a meal and it can last 10 plus minutes bringing up loads of thick mucus.
I don’t have a feeling of anything stuck in my throat, I enjoy my meal, then start coughing straight away, it leaves me breathless
I take Lamprazole 2-30mg a day, I have recently had a gastroscopy and the doctor said everything was fine and he wouldn’t be seeing me again. In the talk afterwards it was suggested that I take 30mg half an hour before my meal ( that’s breakfast and teatime). It was confirmed I have a hiatus hernia
I have had CT scans thankfully these were ok, except for some broken glass marks on my lungs which he is talking to his colleagues about.
I am now wondering if the high dose of lamprazole is causing these symptoms, I have osteoporosis which can be caused by lamprazole
I am seing a Respitory doctor because of my breathlessness and thankfully he has organised these tests, I don’t see him until December hopefully he will have all test results, I also went for blood test.
Before December I am thinking of seeing my doctor about reducing the lamprazole to see if it has any effect.
The only drugs I take is Lamprazole and Peptac acid (when I remember to take it) I only take vitamin D tablets for osteoporosis not Aldronic acid which makes me bad.
Has anybody else had this thick mucus choking after a meal, I’m ok the rest of the day, unless I quickly get up and walk or talk which brings on a coughing fit.
Sorry for the long post.
