Hi

I was diagnosed with H pylori after endoscopy in October 20 and then went through 2 different antibiotics plus PPI 7 day treatments. The last one completed in January 21.

I then had 2 stool tests - one in March 21 and another in May 21 for H pylori and both were negative.

My acid reflux symptoms took about 6 or7 months to easy after the treatment and since last few months I have been virtually acidity free. Was able to eat as before etc.

However since last couple of days the acidity symptoms have come back. Pain in the upper middle abdominal especially when the stomach is empty and some stomach rumbling. A mild diarrhoea which has now stopped. Not sure what caused as everyone's else in the Family is fine and we all eat the same food.

My question is has anyone experienced acidity symptoms months after eradication of h pylori? How long do they last for? How do you manage that period?

Can h pylori infection make your stomach very sensitive and give you acid reflux symptoms post eradication?

Much appreciate your thoughts and experience

Hi I was diagnosed with H Pylori. I had no symptoms and had a cast iron digestive system that could take any food I threw at it. After the eradication I think that was when all my problems with reflux began. I have worked on my diet since to hopefully reinstall some decent bacteria. Now I am due another H Pylori test. So its wait and see. I will think twice about taking more anti biotics as they clear out all the bacteria, good and bad. Although I tested negative after the eradication my doctor tells me it can come back. It's important not to be taking PPIs when you do the test as that can give a false negative.

My understanding is that H Pylori can cause ulcers as it attacks the lining of the stomach. But some people can live with it with no symptoms. I think that was me before the anti biotics. I had been taking Omeprazole but have stopped now as I hate taking meds. To be honest my symptoms are pretty much the same on it or off it so I can't see the point. I am trying to manage it with diet.

I was on omeprazole 20mg twice a day for about 2 weeks after finishing then on one 20mg for 3 weeks an then gradually reduced it to 10mg before stopping completely after 2 months.

So you will need to gradually wean off
