Thank you for your replies, I spoke to my rheumy nurse and it looks like I am one of the rare few people who has had a reaction to the drug and instead of helping it has made my phsoriatic arthritis worse. I have taken the fortnightly injections for 15 weeks and suffered thinking it was just bad side effects, so maybe if you are struggling on a new medication don't leave it as long as I have. My nurse is going to give me a steroid injection to help me with the pain.
Update on adalimumab : Thank you for your replies, I... - NRAS
Update on adalimumab
Abatercept caused problems for and I got eczema and it was stopped. Really horrid, painful and itchy so its so odd how these medications effect everyone on different ways. It went quickly after the medication was stopped but had spread over both arms, shoulders and back.
It's really hard because you desperately want the medication to work so you persevere, my GP said how pleased he was when I was prescribed it so I equally don't want to put anyone off this medication as you say what works for someone else might not be right for you.
You do to the point that for me meant that the cream to stop the eczema was horrid, I dropped some and it turned a Matki non slip shower floor into a skating ring and I fell and broke my leg and ankle. But it is rare. lol x
sadly it’s isn’t working for me … 5 months of fortnightly injections
I’ve been told I have to stay with it for 6 months before an alternative will be offered . Being held together by steroids for the last few months which at least keep me mobile and active
I am so looking forward to my steroid injection in November because it gives me a chance to feel better before my daughter's wedding at the end of November, the only problem is now I can't wear any shoes only trainers at the moment because my feet are so painful and I'm hoping the steroids will help otherwise I'll be in flip flops lol.
Oh well, on the plus side now you stop th medication you should improve. The steroid injection should help quickly too 🤞. Hope you find something that works for you
Thanks for the update. It's such a shame you are unable to take it, but it's good that you have now got a definitive answer to your issues. Hopefully, you can move forward in a positive way, and try a different biologic, once it is out of your system.
Adalimumab didn't suit me either and I ended up back on etanercept.
Good luck in finding one that works for you xx
