I have been taking adalimumab for 14 weeks now and I think it has helped a bit but I don't know if it's the side effects of the drug or my pa. The longer I'm taking it the more back and hip pain I'm getting also pain and swelling in my ankles.I know side effects can last up to 16 weeks but I can't see any real progress yet and just more pain, has anyone else felt like this as I'm desperate to find something that works but seems to struggle the longer I'm on it. I have been diagnosed with colitis as well and this drug is used to treat both.
Thanks for reading

this drug really didn’t suit me . My pain got worse and I had hip pain and mobility issues with it . After 12 weeks I could not lift my arm or leg and was taken off it . I did Google the rare side effects of this drug and these symptoms were listed
Thanks for your reply I was beginning to think I was going mad because my hip pain is unbearable and I'm struggling to get in and out of the car. I will call rheumy on Monday.
Phone rheumatology. Something’s not right particularly if your ankles are swollen. 14 weeks is plenty of time to know whether this drug is doing you any good andit doesn’t sound promising.
Never hurts to ask - if they say all fine and carry on then you have your answer but if you don't tell them you're having problems and those problems get worse it takes longer to put things right foryou.
I started on Abatacept in August and am having similar problems but I have been advised to be patient as it can take 3 - 6 months to start feeling full effect and for side effects to lessen. So will grit my teeth and wait despite the discomfort although I must admit the fatigue is slightly improved
I recently started adalimumab too and wasn't seeing any obvious benefits at the 3-month point. My RA symptoms were getting worse because I had to stop one of my other meds in order to start it. We decided to give it a full trial to the 6-month mark because the benefits can be so slow to show, but I had a steroid injection to reduce inflammatory symptoms in the meantime. It's helping. It sounds like you really need a review with your rheumatology team to work out what's going on for you, and if it's worth continuing with the adalimumab or not.
Thanks for your reply, originally my rheumy nurse said I should feel the benefits after six weeks so I wanted to give it a chance so they could see I'd perseved but I have had enough after this weekend. I will post my outcome when I've spoken to rheumatology. Thanks again
