I noticed I have a bony lump on the top of my left foot about six months ago. It wasn’t painful until about two weeks ago. Now when I walk if I put any weight on the ball of my foot, the pain shoots through to the top where my lump is. I had to take my dad to hospital last week, which involved a lot of walking and I was in so much pain with it. It now swells up all puffy if I’m on it a lot. I’m using a walking stick but it’s hard not to trigger the pain. I’m walking on my heel on that foot now which is making my lower back and hip ache 🙄🙄
I am going to speak to the gp about it but just wondered if anyone had experienced this? When it came up first I wondered if it was a rheumatoid nodule. I’m supposed to be seeing my rheumatologist soon, no appointment yet though.

Difficult to tell what you’ve got going on without a GP consult and x-ray so see your doctor as soon as you can as it could be any number of things. Feet are very complex structures and what one person may have experienced isn’t necessarily what you’ve got so hope you can get an appointment soon and get some relief. Best of luck.
yes Kati, I have one on each foot. The size of s latge cherry, definitely bone not squishable. For years I have aked gp for advice and got none. I asked my rheumatologist , he chose not to look and told me to see a podiatrist. Now , my feet are so painful I have difficulty walking . This has made the arthritis in knees, spine and pelvis much worse. I have only one pair of shoes I can wear.
BUT today I have a foot xray!!! Not in my local big hospital but, in a much smaller one miles away.😱
Do not ignore these foot lumps , they grow and cause such misery. L
It's about the size of a pea, which you would think wouldn't hurt but it's so painful. I'm walking on my heel now and I know that won't help with my spinal issues. Its good you are having an x-ray finally, hope it goes okay x
In many areas now you can bypass the GP and self refer to podiatry. They are the experts of everything below the knee.
if it is over the big toe it could be an exostosis, that is a bony growth on top of the foot, which is a little different to a normal bunion that grows on the side of the big toe. Or as others have said it could be a Morton's Neuroma or something else. Either way, you need to see a podiatrist. They will be able to figure out what is going on and what can be done about it.
Kati , I have seen a lovely feisty , kind nhs podiatrist , wonderful lady . She was shocked by my horrid feet , but ther is nothing she can do . She wrote to rheumstology suggesting I have may be been mis diagnosed. They sent me to orthopaedics , then today after months I had an xray .
So ! Go and see a podiatrist as soon as possible .
