Light compression gloves

Hi everyone, does anyone have any recommendations for light compression gloves? Not the type with splint inserted. I have a swelling in my right hand (at the outer side below my wrist joint) which is very painful, am waiting to see my RA specialist but haven't received the appointment yet. I take 20mg MTX but not working on this. Last appointment the specialist said there was small bone inflammation in the area but it's now more painful. Thanks in advance.

You might do best to Google them or look at and aids shop online in Spain as most here are in the UK and answers won’t necessarily be relevant. I get mine from complete care shop but can’t check if they’ll deliver out of the UK as they’re down at the moment.

I purchase all mine from a company called OneCompress, they are based in the USA, but delivery is quick around 7 days, and excellent customer service. They are made of bamboo and very soft but supportive. I also purchased 2 knee and 2 elbow supports, as I was so pleased with them. My knee and elbow ones can be worn overnight, many can’t due to danger of rolling on theirselves and acting as a tourniquet. If I wake with severe knee pain, these along settle it down. They will happily exchange if the don’t fit, but they are true to size if you measure as directed. I have about 4 pairs of gloves, and they come no where close to the bamboo ones, delivery is included in the cost

Hi, I purchase mine from ebay, I have tried the more expensive ones that the hospital give you, but need extraones so could wash them. I have found the cheap ones on ebay are just as good. Good luck.

another vote for One Compress for me - but otherwise Amazon have a selection!

I was referred to Occupational Health by my rheumatologist who made mine to measure.

Gosh! Where are you? The public health system is really bad where I am. Have to move back to England or Ireland soon...

I found Dr Arthritis were good gloves, but I found they didn't work. They actually made the pain worse not better.

There was some peer reviewed research on compression gloves, and the outcome was that it isn't the compression that helped, it was the warmth. so if compression gloves don't work for you, maybe some woolly ones will!

Yeah, I was given the type with the splint inserted years ago in a London hospital and they caused more pain.

Hi,

I got mine from OT in the RA dept. at the hospital. Perhaps it’s worth a try ringing your RA team to see if they can refer you.

I have never heard of an OT dept associated with RA here in Spain unfortunately. I guess if I went private, this would be an option but I can't even get a private appointment till July...

Hi, I have RA and was prescribed Isotoner gloves by the Hand Therapy Department. The stitching is on the outside of these gloves which makes them more comfortable to wear. I have gone on to buy more pairs online. The website shows you how to take a measurement of your hand therefore ensuring the right fit. The Hand Therapy professional informed me these were the best compression gloves available. They are in fact so good my husband now uses them to. They are safe to sleep in all night and I find my fingers and hands feel "reset" and more ready to go after I have slept in them. Highly recommended. Just type Isotoner gloves into the search engine and you'll find the website. All the best.
