Ive seen people wearing them and as my hands are agony at the moment I’m thinking about trying some for myself. Do any of you use them and if so where do you buy them - it would be quicker to buy my own - and are some makes better than others?
Compression gloves?: Ive seen people wearing them and... - NRAS
Compression gloves?
My wonderful mother purchased some for me from groupon, they work a treat. However, I haven’t tried any others to compare them with. I don’t believe they were overly expensive
I don’t use them as often anymore but in the past, they were my saviour. I was given a pair of isotoner therapy gloves by an Occupational Therapist around 8/9 years ago. I wore to death and eventually got another pair, I think they were around £35 but totally worth it. There are few things I actually think help joint pain but the compression gloves are definitely one of them.
I wear them a lot and find them great for reducing swelling on finger and wrist joints. The occupational therapist can give them to you and they are cheap online. The ones I prefer are sold in Boots and cost around £18 for a pack of two. Good luck.
Yes I wear mine mainly at night to ease sore swollen wrists and fingers. I originally got them from the hospital but buy them from complete care shop online as it’s quicker than going to the hospital. I think they were about £13 each. They seem to be lasting well but I have sewn pairs up in the past as it’s usually the seams that go first.
I got mine from amazon and their great, I bought 4 pairs plus they have the grip in the inside so are great for opening things
Amazon.. Arthritis gloves. I love them. Wear them at night sometimes and in thd day. I have a black pair snd a, pale pink pair. They wash very well. They support you well and are comforting. You can wear wrist splints over the top too.
Hi! I wear them when my hands are particularly sore and they def help. I got them from the OT. I just wish they made them in nicer colours, mine are flesh coloured and look a bit creepy, I call them my Hannibal Lector gloves 😄
Got mine from occupational therapist. Can't wear as like any other gloves they cause more pain to me but know so helpful to others.
I think they're definitely worth a go. I got mine a year ago from Occupational Therapy and wear them mainly when doing housework or ironing. They help me with the pain and swelling in my hands and feel quite comforting and warming. They're looking a bit tatty now so I'm going to buy some more - think I'll try the Boots ones, as someone suggested.
Hi these are fantastic stop my fingers swelling up I’ve tried lots of different pairs spent almost £200 but best are the IMAK make I found these to be most durable and now have about 3 pairs . The ones from groupon did not help nor did dr Arthiritis ones. I do have small hands and this could be the reason why others haven’t provided the relief that the IMAK have. Definitely makes a difference.
I have a pair of thermoskin gloves for arthritis that I wear occasionally they cost about £21 from Amazon. The gloves are quite snug and can be difficult to get off once on, but really help when my hands are in pain.
Thank you everyone for all of those suggestions. I walked up town yesterday to try Boots but our branch must be too small, in the meantime I’ve ordered a pair from Amazon. I’m very hopeful.
I have just had a new pair delivered by Amazon - Disuppo ones which I have found the best. These are brown - I have red ones to wear at night and black ones. They help my hands stop swelling so much, and so be more flexible, give extra support under gardening gloves or rubber gloves for being busy. And in this cold weather they give extra warmth under 'normal' gloves. I don't wear them all the time, but wouldn't be without them - --always got a pair in my bag...
My hands have been causing me a lot of pain, too. I tried a few pairs of gloves and fit is really crucial, isn't it? Our hands are everything.
I had one thumb operated on a few years ago to release the tendon that would get stuck. The Dr cleaned put the arthritis and said I would have to have my thumbs replaced eventually.
For my thumbs now, I wear gloves but use a narrow elastic bandage and wrap my thumbs to my palm to stabilize it. It keeps it better supported and I don't abuse it so much.
Perhaps this may help you. Best of luck.
