Metratrexate injection

hi all!

I’m due my weekly metratrexate injection tomorrow but I have a little sniffle nothing much as yet but think I could be getting a cold..my question is do people that are on metratrexate still have it with a sniffle/cold ?

I haven’t had a cold since starting the metratrexate that’s why I’m asking

my rheumatologist lets me continue MTX if its just a cold. I often postpone a day, just to make sure it doesn’t progress into a chest infection

Personally I’ve only ever been told to stop it if on antibiotics for an infection, not for a cold. The patient information leaflet may help if you weren’t given advice when prescribed it. 🤞🏻 it stays just a sniffle.

I started MTX during COVID and had no colds during that time and am now uncertain about what to do also. I have recently delayed by a day or two if I feel a cold coming on just to give my body it's best chance to fight it off before taking my MTX again. Messes up your routine for which day you take it so I usually then work through an extra day each week until I get back to my preferred day. Hope your cold comes to nothing 🤞

IMO I would still take MTX with a cold. I have only been told to pause MTX when having elected surgery. I've taken it for over 40 years.

I was told not to stop just for a blocked nose - only if I was feeling ill with it. Hope this helps.

I would still take Methotrexate with a cold unless it was a very severe one.

They tell you if you are on antibiotics then to stop the MTX. xxxx

Only stop injections for infection ( when on antibiotics)

in general I take it, unless expressly told by my doctor to stop. Especially at the start as it takes so long to really start to work!

I asked this question when I first started MTX, 2 years ago now. Rheumy said continue if you have a cold , the flu or co-vid that’s a defo stop till your better 👍
