Sounds like a hypersensitivity rash to your injection. Might be worth contacting your team or GP though so they can give you advice in case it continues. Good luck with MTX!

Hi, I take mtx 25mg, they stopped giving wipes a long time ago so a purchased some from amazon. Not very expensive but better to be safe than sorry that ther surface is clean.

Apparently they are really not necessary. I still get them and use them to clean my secateurs 😁

Are you using the wipe beforehand as that irritated me so I didn’t use it.

It can happen once and never happen again. Maybe pop an ice cube on the injection site for a minute or two after injecting to try to stop the reaction starting.

I always have injection site reactions, it's obviously my skin. I find antihistamine cream from the chemists sorts it out if it's only mild. Remember to alternate your injection sites to stop the reaction getting too bad.I was told by a nurse I am probably allergic to the preservative in the injection. In the past they have swapped brands about to see if I can handle one better than the other.

Make sure you report it to your team. They will ask you the size of the reaction site and to monitor if it's getting bigger.

Hi, this is completely normal, after my first injection I had a massive round red sore patch exactly like yours it was hot and red and looked awful. My doctor told me to get the over the counter antihistamine cream and I just applied this after every injection. It really helped. The same thing happened for about 4 weeks and then just stopped. I was advised this would happen and it would gradually stop over time which it did. I have been on Methatrexate for about 5 years now and never had a reaction again. Methatrexate has really given me my life back so I hope that it works for you too. I would mention it to your doctor or specialist but the antihistamine cream helped me.

I used to get sore injection site on my tummy, so i inquired with my rheumy if i could move the injection site to my leg, and promptly did so. i have been injecting there for years and have had no bother, give it a try
