Capita PIP telephone assessments

Hi, can anyone advise how the current Capita PIP assessments are done by telephone please? Are the assessors trained medical personnel? Is it a case of going through the questions you answered on the form with you? Thanks for the advice 😊

Hi I had a telephone assessment last week and i did ask the lady what profession she was and she said she was a critical care nurse. She said my form was very in depth but just had to go through some things with me. Like if i worked or had any pets, when was the last time i drove, and then just going through some of the questions on the form. X

Thanks Julie1908, that’s reassuring. My form was in depth too with a lot of supporting evidence as had RA for nearly 40 years X

Is this your first application? X

They don’t always have medical training so be clear in the words/ terms that you use and explain what they mean.

Read through your application before your call and have it next to you. They are looking to give/ not give points so look again at the questions.

Good Luck!

As someone else has said they are looking to trick you. I don't mean to worry you but I found it quite stressful. I said I had a dog who my husband walks. She must have asked me 6 different ways about me walking the dog.

Have your form out next to you. And have a drink nearby. Make sure you are well rested and ready for it.

My assessor was lovely she made me feel so at ease from the beginning of the call, I didn’t feel she was tricking me in anyway x

Thank you both Julie and Ajay for your helpful info. It’s not my first application but it’s my first assessment by telephone for review/change of circumstances. Hope you have a successful outcome Julie X
