which should I pick? I am thinking injection might be better so I can control the speed that the substance enters my body.

I'm not sure there's an optimum speed for injecting subcutaneously. It all gets absorbed into your bloodstream at the same rate once it's in the fatty bit.

I'd go with whatever you feel comfortable using. I use the pen and it's easy.

the pens don’t go in really fast, you can see the plunger but it’s a matter of preference really, try one and if you don’t get on with it ask to change. I like the pen because there’s no prep apart from removing from the fridge in good time , you just do it. 🤞🏻 it works for you.

when I changed biologic I opted for the injection having previously been on pens. I am really glad I did much more control of speed and not as stingy

it’s very much a personal preference. I’ve tried both in the past a definitely preferred syringes to pen. I liked that I had more control on the speed and consequently was less stingy.

I've never used a pen but I have no problems with my Cimzia syringes. Occasionally I've seen reports here about people having problems with pens. Not sure if that is equipment or operator error.

If you are comfortable with needles, I think you may feel more in control.

I think so, too. No pens for me at this time. Bring on the syringe. Wish I didn't need either.

I have previously used pens to dispense Kevzara (Sarilumab), I am now using Idacio (Adalimumab), what I did find was that pens are pretty brutal, and on most occasions I finished up with bruising. However if you use a syringe and are injecting say at about 45 degrees after pinching your stomach or leg, make sure the tip of the syringe has the sharp point entering your body first, and then gently/smoothly push the plunger to inject the contents, touch wood I have had no bruising or pain from using this method, far better then the pen.

Not what you're looking for?
