Cosentyx dose

today they called from Cosentyx to speak to me about going on the medication. The girl said I was prescribed the loading doses and then 300mg each month. So that means two needles each time. Each one is 150mg. Anyone else taking that dose? I’d never heard anyone say they have to do two injections.

I'm on Cimzia and after the loading doses - which was 2 injections at a time, I was put on 1 x 200ml injection every 2 weeks . In the information I have it says it can be done as 2 every 4 weeks but I wasnt given the option.

maybe my doctor feels it hurts less putting a smaller amount in each spot. Thanks for responding.

I too have had the loading dose of 5 150mg pens, and now on 300mg once a month. One single pen. I am also resident in the UK. Xx

Not on it myself, but just checked the BNF and there is a 300mg pen available: hopefully someone that takes it will confirm, but from that, it looks like it should still just be one injection.

maybe Canada won’t allow it? 🤷‍♀️

I take 300mg Cosentyx in one single injected dose.

They give you 300mg if you had an insufficient response to anti-TNFs.

interesting. She is starting with the loading dose and going right to 300 mg. I am on leflunimide and it seems to be working well IMHO. After a vaccination I seem to get more disease activity but then in a month or two Everything settles and I feel almost normal. Not sure why she is going full tilt and ofcourse I can’t get an appointment to just ask.

maybe in Canada they won’t allow the 300 mg dose. This is crazy because I was not really happy about poking myself twice and she said that they needed two sites because of the amount of liquid. So what the heck!

Again, I can only really go off what’s recommended in the UK, but the BNF states 5 weeks at the 150mg dose and then going straight to 300mg is appropriate for those who have PsA and current plaque psoriasis, or those who haven’t responded to an anti-tnf. I googled for cosentyx medicinal forms Canada and did find a monograph by the manufacturer’s Canadian arm stating the same dosing rationale as the BNF, and that the dose can be given as two 150mg doses, or a single 300mg one: that does seem to suggest the 300mg pen is also available in Canada. Perhaps the best course of action would be to ask your doc why you can’t have the higher dose pen prescribed?

i started on 150 with the loading dose and continued with that dosage . After several months my consultant upped my dosage to 300 this is given in a single 300 pen so it is available. She said to use up the remaining 150 by doubling up but 300 pens are definitely available in the

i live in the Netherlands and have PsA, i inject 150 cosentyx each month and also use 15mg methotrexate each week, this works for me, keeps everything under control. Everyone is different, took a few years of trying various combinations of things to get it right! Good
