pip assesment

hi guys, well today I had my pip assesment phone call that lasted for 40 minutes. I am not holding much hope out for getting anything but thought I would try. I didn't have anyone with me as my partner is in hospital once again very poorly. I answered all the questions on the sheet again. I thought it went well, but as I have read on here that doesn't mean I will get anything. Take care of yourselves.

Wishing you luck Carol and hope you are awarded PIP. I know you’ve suffered a lot with uncontrolled RA and having to stand and use your hands so much doing your busy job. 💗

Good luck. The general advice is to request a copy of the assessment to check it is accurate. You can get advice from the Benefits and Work forum

hope you get it Carol. I was uncertain too but was awarded it. I think we feel cheeky going for it but then when you fill the form I.nd go through with them what life is like now to how it was I realised I deserved it and needed it to buy things to make life more comfortable. The first thing I did was get a high rise loo fitted, best thing I've ever done!

I hope you get it.I feel guilty claiming a lot of times as as we know we are not the same everyday.when I last received full PIPS I was not long out of a wheel chair as I was determined to walk but still hung onto my husband. I was advised to go in wheelchair thou.Told them then I didn’t use it anymore thou.My assessor was so kind and listened. My walking is still dangerous a lot of the days to walk without holding onto husband as I have trippy n jerky movements so would over balance into Road.Inhaveblots of numerous conditions as fibromyalgia and RA etc but days when better than others I feel like I should cancel my benefit but then next day I am so bad.It is so hard but these assessors should know our conditions and realise not everyday is exactly the same. You are so lucky to be able to work Carol but then you really struggle and have such a poorly husband.you deserve the benefit

Best of luck. At least that's the assessment done.Hope you get something. 💐

fingers crossed you get awarded PIP , my brother has RA and is now suffering with prostate cancer. He was awarded pip after a telephone interview and he sent letters from his Doctors too. Unfortunately last week they rang again and said it was their mistake and he wasn’t entitled to anything! I’ve told him to contest the decision but he feels so unwell at the moment he doesn’t feel able to. It really is luck of the draw!

It is not the condition but how it affects a person, my husband has prostate cancer but is living a completely normal life. Sadly therefore perhaps your brother didn't explain how badly he is affected. It is definitely worth nagging him to appeal, my husband has radiotherapy and hormone treatment and is vey well, in fact out cutting the grass so he can play golf tomorrow after his next session. He gets more stressed about driving through all the roadworks with lots of cones but no one working on the motorway. I hope your brother does appeal and gets the help he needs. Tell him its not charity as we all paid into the National Insurance scheme before retirement, so it's there in our time of need.

That’s how they get away with it. I wasn’t able to fight for the first 4-5 years after diagnosis. It’s terrible this happens when people are at their most vulnerable. Inhumane really 🙁.

Hi. Just to say, it ounds like he should appeal and explain more how his daily life is affected and what help/ support he needs. xx

That didn't seem to take long. Some people wait ages for an assessment. It takes 4-6 weeks to hear back as the Decision Maker (DWP) is the one who makes the decision. Good luck x

The very best of luck. It all seems so arbitrary. I was assessed and given it, I was then evaluated again and still got it. Then they visited my house to check to see if there had been any improvement, I had in fact gotten worse. I was particularly stressed out by this point, but some weeks later they confirmed I did qualify.
