lip op: Hi i have just been diagnosed with lip cancer... - NRAS
lip op
Not me but my husband goes in on Friday for a cancer removal on his face. It was explained that his type of cancer almost never spreads into the rest of the body and it'll all be excised which they will check and then do a graft.
I don't have any experience, but wish you well.
I hope all goes well for you.
I haven't but just sending love and hope all goes well for you. Let us know how you are xx 😘
I had a punch biopsy on my lower lip 2 years ago for a growth that looked like a stalk hanging off the right side of my lower lip. It would grow and then bleed profusely, then drop off then do the same. Thankfully the biopsy showed it was benign and since the biopsy it hasn't grown back. I have to say the team who did the biopsy were great and so reassuring throughout the procedure and every attempt was made to make me feel as comfortable as possible, not only regarding my lip but with RD making sure the rest of me was as comfortable as can be. They talked me through the process before and during and while the initial injection was unpleasant, I did not feel a thing and the stitches (2) were dissolvable and neat. I now have a little cross on my lip but fingers crossed apart from that I'm ok. Have you spoken to your consultant or someone about it or do you have a contact number to be able to speak with someone? Again perhaps to ask about afterwards say things like oral care, eating I used a soft baby spoon and ate soft foods initially as my lip was swollen. Best to check for your situation what is best and right for you. Please let us know how you get on and sending you some warm and supportive wishes, take care xx
I haven't heard of lip cancer specifically but presume it is a form of skin cancer. I hope all goes well for you. Good luck
Very sorry to hear this and hope all goes well and that the next few weeks fly by and you are all done before you know it.
Thank you all for your replies, xx
Hope all goes well x
Hope all goes well for you! Keep us posted on your progress.
Never had it but do hope all goes well & no further ops are needed. Experience of ops in Spain is limited to 2 but both were a success & care & follow-up treatment excellent.
Please let us know how you are once it's done. I’m sure you will but we'll wonder otherwise. x
So sorry to hear about your diagnosis.I wish you a speedy recovery from your operation.x
I hope it goes well - make sure you know lots of info about what type of stiches are used, etc is it a micro surgery i.e. a plastic surgeon can usually do a less noticeable job than a general surgeon. You probably have but its been known to happen where they say "oh we'll just whip that off' - always ask, and probe the procedure detail. My uncle had a cancer cut out and he was left with quite a permanent 'v' where they took it from, so they are all different in size and type so its really advisable to have as much knowledge as you can so there are no surprises down the track. I only wish you well and hope you are happy with it, and recover quickly. Cheers from Australia. xx
