Third Vaccine and Booster Vaccine

Hi I have received a letter advising me that I am eligible to receive a third vaccine, and that 'immunosuppressed" patients are 'LIKELY' to be eligible for a Booster vaccination (fourth vaccination) in six months, PENDING FURTHER ADVICE. I queried this with my GP surgery and was advised that it is not definite that immunosuppressed patients will get a Booster (fourth vaccine dose). It's all so confusing!

I’m not worrying about 6 months into the future (although I think it most likely that there will be another dose for us). The importance is being protected now, so I have had a third dose. Don’t care if it was called a third primary, or a booster but just that it was a syringe with a full dose of the vaccine!

It's all set out in the JVCI advice given in September. Boosters depend upon the results of the Octave research. Clearly, they don't know the immunity response to the third vaccine until we have had it and antibody results are studied over time. Once the evidence is collected they will make their next recommendations.

Thank you. That's makes more sense now.

Stop being confused……we have all got this far& nobody knows what we will be getting in 6 months….just go with the flow…that’s the only way to deal with Covid now.

I just received a long letter…which ended up saying you will not be able to book your third dose via the National BookingSystem, or by ringing 119….Simply just TAKE this letter to your nearest vaccination centre…TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT…..What happened to phoning or emailing for an appointment …..I do in fact have a car…but what if I didn’t?My nearest vaccination centre is 10 miles away…with no bus route….so two taxi journeys..or a very long walk…think I’d be too exhausted to make the journey twice!

It really is a right old mess isn’t it?

Yes it certainly is. Can't believe you can't book via phone or email. Crazy.

Hi

I have had two covid jabs, separated by the correct intervals, then I had what I thought was a booster jab on the 26th October, and when I looked closely at my record card it did read ‘booster vaccine’ ( all Pfizer ). However on 17 th November I had a letter from my local health board stating ‘3rd dose covid vaccination for patients who are immunosuppressed’ and it also states that this is a third primary dose.

I must admit I am starting to become confused, as I thought we just needed booster jabs, or perhaps booster jabs are exactly the same as a primary dose?

Hi, I went for my third jab as instructed by letter because I am immunosuppressed and to my surprise my senior rheumatology nurse was volunteering and she gave me my third jab. She recorded it as my third jab and instructed me to book my booster in six months time. Hope this helps.

Well that is encouraging to hear.

wondering what does your public health consider "immune compromised", I have been on 5 gs pred now for well over a year, but my rheumy wouldn,t give me a letter stating I am immune compromised to be eligible when category was first giving those vaccines, I have since had both jabs, but question this group, who and why are they considered "immune compromised"

Hi please see copy of list that was forwarded to me with the letter. Unfortunately it's not on there. In the letter it says Prednisolone at a dose of more than 10mgs daily.
