Hi Orange….. you will find your Blue Band so helpful with parking, but make sure you put it on your Dash with your photo face down…… when you visit another town and park in a disable parking bay, make sure to check if you have to pay, or not….. not every council allows free parking with a blue badge.

Enjoy…..Don.😀

Thanks Don It’s a great relief after the problem I’ve had with renewing the badge 😃

Did you ever get to the bottom of why you were messed about so much?

Hello

Not really. But thoughts popped into my head

1 Changed email address A few years ago

2 I am not the driver my husband does the driving I couldn’t anyway with this condition not now

3 My recent photograph looks a lot better than the previous ones.

Having thought about it, I decided to Write a hand written letter to them. Actually, my husband had to write the letter for me dictated to by me as I can no longer write properly.

it was a proper whingefest letter but I outlined all the problems I have with mobility inside my home and more importantly how difficult it is for me outside. Weather did it or not I don’t know, but I got confirmation of my eligibility A few days later.

I certainly won’t take it for granted the next time I have to update my blue badge. Lesson learnt there.

The tips and the pointers I got on this site were very helpful thank you

I honestly wonder how the people who make the Yes/No decisions on granting a Blue Badge are appointed.

Seems like the stick a pin & pray qualification might be the answer?

Just glad it eventually got sorted in your favour.

Good advice there Don and also the time you can park in a disabled bay free may also vary from place to place too.

I’m very happy to hear this! Hope it means you can get out to some places you love and park close by. 🩷

Very good advice from Don re photo face downwards on your dashboard.

Glad to have helped just proves though they were not being awful just needed the information. I'm so pleased for you and don't forget a lot of the ANCP carparks do allow you with the Council to register the badge so you can go in and out with all the palaver of proof of parking . Here Medway, Swale, Canterbury, Gravesham but not Maidstone Councils do that its easy so look up your local council for info on registering. You can put 2 numbers plates in and very helpful. Also it's worth checking with other Councils where you may go.

Hi just read post. I don’t drive. But would I get a blue badge when people take me places? I have PMR and GCA and sometimes my legs just don’t seem to want to work. I must admit it is worse on my upper arms and shoulders. I am still on steroids since 2021, but just can’t manage lower than 6mg. Thank you for your help and advice.

Yes! You can get a blue badge if you do not drive. My step Dad had one for when my sister took him anywhere in a car.
