Hello everyone. I can now go for my 4th vaccine. Do most people hold off having their medication if they are about to have a Covid Vaccine. I am due my Biologic Tocilizumab over the weekend and the walk in Clinic is tomorrow morning. Any thoughts welcome, thanks.
Fourth vaccination ( booster): Hello everyone. I can... - NRAS
Fourth vaccination ( booster)
Just do what you did for the first three, what you were advised by your rheumy before? That’s what I’m doing 😊
I didn’t, the only one I didn’t take it for was when vax was on my injection day, I just put it forward a day but that’s just me. Could check with rheumatology? 🙂
Entirely personal story. First 2 carried on with JAK. 3rd I chose to break before and after. 4th one I shall do the same. My RA is not flaring and has in recent times manageable when off drug. (But better on!). Rheumy said to carry in with drugs but I’ve seen research reports where say to come off. So that’s my decision.
My Rheumy (in my letter) advised me to skip a methotrexate injection but continue with my Benepali injection. Each person and combination of meds is different.
It may be prudent for you to ask your Rheumy department before going. It would be a shame to compromise either your RA meds or your vaccination.
So pleased you are having your 4th your having your 4th vaccine...l had mine 3wks ago l still had my Tocilizumab in the same week ..good luck
Never stopped biologic.Bet you pleased to get 4th .I certainly was.take care
Official advice from British Rheumatology is that patients should not pause treatments for vaccinations. See third drop down section section here rheumatology.org.uk/practic...
However, some rheumatologists have advised some patients to pause treatment if they think that they are well controlled and unlikely to flare.
I was told I could have my tcz same day by my rheumy nurse . She was giving me my tcz and offered me my jab if I hadn't had it, she said you can have them together
Was told by rheumatologist to hold off with methotrexate but to continue with biologics. Hope this is helpful!
Hi Mouseling, i would definitely recommend getting in touch with your Rheumatology unit. Best of luck 😀
