How long are you supposed to wait for a decision from tribunals about a decision on my PIP mobility? I applied first in 2017 already had PIP general but everything worsened..pain/anxiety oesteo in hands and arms...but now have it in my hip/leg so what happens now ? ive done everything I can to get them to make a decision ( DWP decided no!) so now I am waiting for HM Courts and tribunals to reach a decision as I need extra help with standing and walking now I also suffer with severe agraphobia..so I need someone to take me or accompany me with appointments etc!!!I really dont see the problem???I have been retired from work due to ill health and now I am getting my state pension..

Has the hearing happened mogs or was it just a judge making the decision? I don’t think there is any specified time limit for the decision, it just happens and like with everything at the moment there will be delays and a backlog. Hopefully you’ll hear very soon.

Apparently this yearPIP is being altered to be called something like Adult Work Benefit…. Don’t know if that’s for everybody or just new applicants.Maybe that is why some people are waiting so long for a decision?

Is that next summer AC, 2022 called Adult Disability Payment and I thought it was only in Scotland but I may be wrong or thinking you mean something else 😊

I don’t really know..I read it when I was looking at an article on the triple lock on state pensions in England…..but now can’t find either…...if I come across it I’ll let you know.It seems like the Chancellor is on a mission to save everywhere to pay for Covid doesn’t it?

There are ‘different’ rules for PIP after retirement age. I would read up on this; especially if you are appealing a decision made AFTER retirement. Benefits and Work are good, but lots of other sites will give you the information you need. As for timings…. It’s all up in the air. All you can do is phone the tribunals service (HMCTS) and ask for an approximation.

You could possibly try for attendance allowance now that you are over the state pension age.

Hi Mogs231 I applied for PIP early March 2021, phone appt 14/7/21, told decision could take 8/12 weeks but any payments would get backdated. I'm 62 and made redundant last September. Every delay is getting blamed on Covid, easy to say but don't give up or be afraid to contact them pushing your case. I'm learning the hard way. Good luck.🐕🦄

Just saying and playing devils advocate but if a person is agoraphobic why would they need mobility as they from another angle just don't go out. It's worth thinking about its not straightforward and this could be a case of shooting yourself in the foot so to speak. All generalisation can be misconstrued and complicated by being over the state retirement age.

I'm not talking about the OP and think you have to be careful as its a very complex calculation and having a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Specific advice can only be given based on the facts never assumptions. 'Most' and 'lots' is a subjective opinion not a fact, and it is not the same as all. Sorry I think you've missed my point. I'm not making and any comment about the OP at all but a change of circumstances may well be regarded as a new application and may then be out of PIP and into AA. As I said its complex a tribunal could award backdated and then terminate PIP.I don't know but it's worth thinking about.

I just wonder why a benefit that is available for life if you claim before a certain age is not available a year later?Seems very unfair on those whose health quickly deteriorates & they then genuinely need the help.

I applied for AA for my 97 year old aunt…& reading between the lines it appeared as she could get out of bed & make a cup of tea…she was not entitled to it.Eventually a doctor was sent to do the assessment rather than a young social worker , and she was actually awarded it ….but there is a six month wait until you get it….during which time she died.

The whole area of these benefits appears completely antiquated & far too reliant on assessments by unqualified staff who work for private companies that the Government hire at huge expense.
