Just had an hour and a half over the phone PIP assessment. It was hard work! Six to eight weeks to find out decision. Why is everything so difficult?!

Yes it’s so stressful you can’t fake this disease and the medication and monitoring alone should make them realise. Waste of money these assessments which usually go to mandatory or tribunal only then to be awarded.

Hope you get it

Thank you it’s so stressful on top of having to deal with a disease there’s no cure for!!!

I'm so sorry to hear you have had to go through this and it really saddens me to think of what we are put through. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you. Take care.

Thank you it means a lot having support. I’m feeling a bit shaky and tearful. I’m having some chocolate biscuits to cheer myself up.

Good luck with yours the system just likes to add to our woes I feel. But at least we have each other.

Frustrating isnt it . ..a few bad apples made it bad for us real people x

I hope you are successful. I find the process really upsetting too as you have to forget about all your positive thinking and concentrate on every negative aspect of your illness. The whole process is designed to put us off claiming. Big hugs to you and enjoy your biscuits. I'm jealous as trying to lose weight. x

I agree paulywoo. It certainly doesn't help our health and the last thing we need is the overwhelming stress and anxiety it puts us under. Hope you are keeping ok as can be and send my best wishes to you x

I’m sending you a huge gentle hug - agree with all these posts and comments - these assessors should try living in our shoes for a good month to see how frustrating these disabling conditions realistically are !

I don't know which is worse, talking to a faceless PIP assessor or facing one! Seriously, sending lots of hope for a positive outcome. Hopefully you'll hear way before the suggested time, I know you'll be on tenterhooks til then. Try not to stress about it & enjoy your biccies.

That sounds very stressful. My hearing is not good and I don't think I could have concentrated for that long. Well done !

Hi!

Well done for getting through your phone assessment! As others have said it's a bloomin horrible experience. I think you deserve a whole packet of chocolate biscuits all in one go!😁😉

Fingers tightly crossed (if I could), for a swift and positive outcome for you.🤞🤞

My mother-in-law was awarded Attendance Allowance at the higher rate about 3 weeks ago on a 2 week turn around. No follow-ups or anything just awarded it on the basis of the form. I used to work in Welfare Rights, so was very impressed as this doesn't usually happen so quickly. I hope it bodes well for a quick turnaround on your claim.

Best wishes 😊

It is so stressful having to have the PIP assessments and an hour and a half on the phone is such a long time. I do hope that you hear back sooner and are successful. Hope you enjoyed those very deserved biscuits. Hugs x

The assessments are nonsense and need scrapping. Its medical evidence that got me enhanced daily living. I got nil points from the assessment to 10 points at the MR stage and then an extra 2 at a tribunal all from my medical evidence.

By the way you can request the report within a few days from the DWP to see if you have been awarded points.

Yes, isn't it strange how when dealing with the DWP and they require you to provide information that you have to obtain from gp, consultants etc, etc you are given a deadline which is often 14 days, yet they have as long as they like to respond - 6 or 8 weeks but no deadline at all.

in reply to Stillfightinit

😡😡this got me mad. When I got the MR letter I had 2 weeks from date of letter to gather my evidence. It took 7 days till I received it so 7 days to gather medical support letters . Impossible, I sent a letter with the form complaining about the lack of time as medics cannot reply to me on time and these would follow as I received them . Each sent separately with covering letter and a required signature when they received it 😁 it took six separate letters .... I got my award 😂😂😂think I made a lot of work for them .

I am sorry it was so stressful for you. How long were you waiting for the assessment for? I have been waiting ages.

Awful, isn't it? My interrogation lasted two hours and four minutes. The longer it went on the less I was explaining myself fully as I just wanted it to end. That was on August 13th. Still waiting for the outcome.

Glad it's all over for you - I had my tel assessment a few weeks ago for the same length of time and it was sooooo draining I had to go straight to bed afterwards. Good news is that I got awarded PIP (standard daily living allowance but I'm just so grateful to get some assistance) and I preferred having the tel consultation rather than the stress of being judged by someone on a face to face level as I do not look anywhere near as ill as I am. Hope you get the award too and just appeal/go to tribunal if you don't as that was what I was prepared to do if they had declined me x

So glad your ordeal is over and yeah I would have hit the chocolate biscuits too. My face to face last year was absolutely one of the most stressful and humiliating experiences of my life and I was supposed to be just changing from DLA to PIP the good news is that I was awarded enhanced for both mobility and daily care which is the same level that I was getting for DLA. It does make me so mad that you send so much evidence in and still they don’t take the consultants and GP’s etc word for it. I always keep every letter it get from consultants even if it’s only a routine appointment and they get a copy of the lot. Have to say you did very well to stay on the phone for that long coz after 20 minutes in one position without getting up I can’t move and my hands wouldn’t be able to hold the phone for anywhere near that long generally a speaker on the phone is a good thing to have but it does tend to cut out quite often. Well done anyway and I will keep everything crossed that you get a good outcome and quickly too 🤞🤞🤞😃

I am just shattered now but it’s done at least. It’s ridiculous what we are put through. Thanks everyone for your kind words. Wish we all didn’t have to be treated like this!!

I had exactly the same, took 8 weeks to get an assessment (after 8 weeks from first application), then due to Covid-19 assessment was done over the phone, I could barely hear the assessor, and it took nearly and hour and a half, just to then receive a rejection letter 3 weeks later. I did appeal, and waited a further 4 weeks, only to be told by letter a further 3 weeks later that Appeal was also rejected. Was it worth it I have no idea? but asked them to keep me on file, because as you very rightly pointed out RA doesn't go away, and comes and goes. I gave the assessor one of my worse day scenarios and even that didn't register with PIP. It's sad that RA isn't classified as debilitating. Do try to appeal if they say no, and ask to be kept on file for future applications. It is annoying and am totally with you on this PIP situation. I'd never heard of it till a work coach mentioned I can apply. Keep trying and don't give up !

That’s just terrible. It’s deliberately set up to fail people who really need the extra support I feel.
