Hey there,
Can anyone recommend a London based Hospital with the best rheumatology department or a good specialist in Rheumatoid Arthritis? I’m not getting the right care or help with my current team and I’m going to change. My condition just keeps getting worse and I’m so worried and fed up.
Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you.

That is very subjective…….it very much depends what you want/expect from your rheumatology team……I know basically you want to feel better….but the treatment that satisfies one person will not be what another expects……I’d ask around amongst anyone you know who attends a hospital near you …..in any speciality….& see how satisfied they are with their treatment.
But before you abandon your present team…..make a list of what you feel is missing now….then discuss with your rheumy nurse how she thinks you could get more satisfactory treatment.
I don’t know how long you have been diagnosed…but it is not unusual to take upwards of a year to find a drug regime that really suits you.
But realistically….you are probably not going to transfer to another hospital & find an overnight answer to what you feel you are missing now…it might be worth staying where you are & communicating more with your nurse team.
Right now with hospital admissions for Covid rising..,many Rheummatology staff will be transferred…so staying where you are might be best for now……at least you are “in the system” & presumably getting some treatment…..so don’t jump ship too soon.

I live not far from London so North Kent and its still pretty real at the moment and around here its very busy so it might be a case of better the devil you know rather than change and regret it. I'd totally support Aged Crone it is very true. I don't know why you're unhappy but it does take time and trial and error as no one medication works for all. and a lot of RA teams work across various hospitals so you could change then get a long, long waiting list to see the same person.
And consultants move on! I started at one hospital here, and was very happy with the rheumy I saw, and then she left....
If you're going private I would say The London Bridge Hospital. Can't help you as regards to NHS. I'm not a private patient but do know people who work at London Bridge and others who have been patients.
